Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana have both been making promotional rounds for their upcoming films, Delivery Man and Out of the Furnace, and while doing so, the Guardians of the Galaxy stars have offered a little more about their roles in the Marvel adaptation. As Pratt implied to Movie Fanatic that Star-Lord will give a Braveheart-esque speech at some point in the movie, the actor chatted with IGN about possible reshoots, Benicio Del Toro, and Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket Raccoon.
“Marvel does a really good job of putting reshoots into their budgets,” said Pratt when asked about potential additional photography on
Guardians of the Galaxy.
“So, it's built into the budget already for us to go back and reshoot things. I'd be surprised if we didn't got back and reshoot some things. That's just because, by the time they polish the movie and have the final assembly done, there're gonna be little things they can add. They got the money to do it. So, I [do] expect we'll go back shoot some of it.” Whether he shares scenes with Benicio Del Toro, who plays The Collector in the film, Chris Pratt confirms,
“[Yes] I did, I got to work with Benicio Del Toro on Guardians of the Galaxy and it was awesome. He is truly an artist, and captivating to watch. I learned so much watching him. He's like the king of behavior. He's the kind of guy that is doing something physically that isn't on the page, it's just something that he brought. I inspire to be able to do something like that.”
As for his thoughts on Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket Raccoon, Pratt explained,
“I think you need a great actor to play Rocket Raccoon. And also, he brings a star quality to this movie that is really a benefit. We have a great cast of good actors, but we don't a Bradley Cooper in the movie until we have a Bradley Cooper in the movie. So that's really an amazing boon for us. I'm super excited. From what I hear from James Gunn - and I really trust the director - he had a reason for choosing Bradley. And he's saying now the voice that [he and Bradley] have been working on and created is really awesome. So it's not just gonna be Bradley Cooper, but it's gonna Bradley doing this voice of Rocket, who is like the best character in the movie. So, I'm really excited and I can't wait to meet him because I'm a huge fan.”
Zoe Saldana, meanwhile, has offered nothing but more praise for
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, as well as other aspects of the production.
“It’s a very unique action figure movie,” the actress told The Wall Street Journal's
Speakeasy.
“It’s not overly dramatic and super cool where everybody is just so perfect, they are rolling stones, they are the black sheep of the Marvel family and it’s going to be amazing to get to see these underdogs not just save the day but the galaxy from total destruction and I’m excited and really happy.”
Zoe Saldana went on to discuss James Gunn's unique directorship, saying he
“ran a tight ship and he's a true director and he was born for that kind of leadership. He's an artist that finally has been given the opportunity to showcase what he can really do. I like the fact that he's super unique; there's only one James Gunn. I working with and meeting unique people in life. And he wrote a great script and he really executed it very gracefully,” she said.
“And we had a blast! There were challenges, a very hard shoot, it was a lot of training. A lot of hours in makeup, a lot of costumes that were very uncomfortable. But at the end of the day we were very happy with everything that we put there on-screen.” What do you think?
