Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy was a monster-hit at the box office this year, becoming the top-grossing film at the domestic box office. One of the many reasons the film was such a success was its chart-topping soundtack, "Awesome Mix Vol. 1," which contained songs from the 1960s and 1970s like David Bowie’s “Moonage Daydream,” The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back,” Marvin Gaye’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” and The Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb”. It has sold over a 100,000 copies and in August it hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200. With all that success, it should come as no surprise today that the soundtrack was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Compilation Soundtrack category. We'll have to watch the presentation on February 8, 2015 to find if they won.
