James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy is finally in theaters across the world, and the director last night took part in a great Q&A session about the movie. There are some really fascinating insights here, as well as a great tease about adding another Guardian to the team for the sequel and what led to that after-credits scene featuring a familiar feathered face. The director also reveals that he too would like his own mini dancing Groot, and I think we can all agree to riot if Marvel doesn't have one ready in time for Christmas, right? Hmm Nova wasn't a guardian though..

Captain Universe, Bug, Jack Flag, Adam Warlock and Vance Astro are the only other characters I can think of...

My hopes for Guardians 2: Nova and Warlock join the team, with the two of them joining Quill as they travel back to Earth to warn the Avengers of Thanos, while the rest of the Guardians stay in space.

Also, if he's serious that an actual cassette tape of the soundtrack, that will go flying off the shelf in an instant! Make this happen!

It's pretty much Adam warlock, he's the only guardian they hinted at doing in this movie.

And since the collection is destroyed, I see it happening soon

Bug would be a cool looking alien character.

Real fun movie but a bit too lighthearted for my tastes.
Dancing Lil' Groot in pot is too "cutesy" also..hope sequel has a bit darker tone.

The Cocoon was visible in the Collector's collection just before it was blown up. I bet that explosion freed Warlock. And the whole "mining a Celestial" thing was an awesome little touch.

I would love for Mantis to join the MCU. If Evangeline does become the Wasp, I believe Mantis is the next female character out of the Avengers to get introduced. It would fit the continuity with the comics.

Outside of Bug, which Marvel doesn't have the rights to, James Gunn has said he loves the character of Starhawk so my guess is it's him. OR it could be Warlock, since we saw the coccoon and he fits the continuity with the Soul Gem. I figure that macgruffin will be introduced either in Doctor Strange or possibly in GOTG 2, if Warlock shows up.

The new character is going to be...Peter Quill's father aka ADAM WARLOCK (a being composed of pure light who can hold an infinity stone without being destroyed)!

I wonder if they'll keep star lords true dad from the comics, prince jason of spartoi. That would be cool showing a little back story of him fixing his ship on earth and them falling in love. But honestly, it's warlock. His cocoon was opening when howey was making his grand comeback!

A few thoughts:

Gunn has said he wants to introduce more women. So I'm guessing that means Mantis and/or Phyla-Vell.

Other than one of those two, I also think we'll see Adam Warlock and maybe Starhawk. I can even see the jokes about how close the name is to Starlord.

While maybe not a "member" of the group, I hope Cosmo's role gets expanded, he finds his teeping voice, and is animated in CG rather than a real dog, just because it allows for more emotion in the face and playfulness.

Just seen it. Go see it guys, it lives up to the hype. Just a really, really fun, spectacular movie, with humour, action and great pacing. Another class act from Marvel.
