Infamous Guardians Easter Egg Discovered!?! Its even bigger than you could have imagined...

James Gunn says there is a big GotG easter egg that has gone unnoticed. I believe it could be the grandaddy of all Easter Eggs....

James Gunn says there is a "huge" easter egg in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie that still to this day has gone unnoticed. As the worlds leading Guardians of the Galaxy fanatic it is only natural that I solve it.

Knowhere as it is shown in the movie:



As you can see this being is based in organics. It is mostly bone and has a prominant jaw and spine. Also notice the size. Nothing about this says Celestial to me. They even have a traditional Celestial in the movie and he is 100% comic accurate and not nearly as large as Knowhere:



So whats the deal? I'll tell you... Knowhere in the movie ISN'T THE HEAD OF A CELESTIAL, BUT THE SEVERED HEAD OF THE MCU VERSION OF GALACTUS!!!

Notice the technology around the eye and the way the technology wraps around the head and jaw. Hell, just the fact that this thing has eyes and a mouth should tell you it isn't a Celestial. Check out this image of Galactus face for reference and compare the technology in the eye socket:



I believe it may even be a reference to the Galactus Engine from DnA's Thanos Imperative, where Galactus of the Cancerverse was killed and turned in to a cosmic weapon of mass destruction (note the spine sticking out the back and overall planet sized skull design):



This could be a genius way of explaining why the MCU doesn't have a Galactus without having the rights to the character, similarly to how Tim Miller snuck a destroyed helicarier in to Deadpool:



Have I solved the missing easter egg? This has been bugging me since I saw the movie but never felt inclined to actually explain the theory.

@Darkknight2149 - Your link is unrelated. Also this would be something only James Gunn and the concept artists would be privy to. They can't blatantly say in production it is Galactus because they don't own the rights to the character.

Then how can that be the major Easter Egg if they can't even confirm it? Why would James Gunn even tell everyone "Hey, there's a huge Easter Egg" if no one will ever know for sure what it is? And if it was Galactus, that would also mean that they can never address what the head is or how it got there. And they certain wouldn't lie and say it's a Celestial head.

The chances of this being Galactus' head are slim.

@Darkknight2149 - I know the chances are slim but this is about a visual reference that could be aknowledged, like small nods to other directors work in other films like the Necronomicon in Jason Goes To Hell or the Hellicarier in Deadpool.

Gotta admit I make some good points about the design lining up more with Galactus than a Celestial.

Nice try, but this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. What would be the point of it being Galactus' head if they can never mention it to anyone ever. So the only way it would ever come into play is if Marvel got the rights back. At which point if that happened we would have an MCU where Galactus is already dead.

Not to mention that the head looks nothing like Galactus. Sorry pal, not buying this one. Good article, i like stuff like this.

If we can't agree that it is Galactus can we at least agree that it is an organic being with bone and tissue? Because that alone would mean that I am correct about it not being a Celestial.

Celestials are technological casings housing energy beings from another dimension.

If not Galactus it could be something Asgardian in origin.

@Magus - didn't Marvel wanted to leave Daredevil and get cosmic creatures from Fox? Deal fell through, but they might left it as a reminder. And they couldn't say it's Galactus, because lawyers might get on to their asses. I can kinda see it, purple stuff on a chin, around the eyes.

@Darkknight2149 - That was just an interview where the article itself mentions it's a Celestial, not James Gunn. And the whole point of this is that it is a hidden Easter egg. Just like the helicarrier in Deadpool.

I don't think you fully understand. It is a hidden reference.

I was on board and was going to say that this is a great speculation and would be fun to believe until I looked up pictures of him without his helmet. Unfortunately, he has the normal head of human. That would mean, again, that this unfortunately is not him. it would've made perfect sense to be such a huge Easter egg and not being able to tell us what it is

Cool idea, but no way they would waste him in such a way that they couldn't use him later if they got the rights back. Plus, maybe in the MCU the Celestials come in different sizes, and are organic under that armor?

its galactus! also in concept art for gaurdians of the galaxy 2 we see an eldritch abomination, so I think we will be getting the galactus engine and its story arc in the future.

I've been thinking about this sort of idea.

Boils down to the fact that the Celestials are just fitting replacements for characters like Galactus. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a genuine history of Knowhere down the line.

This is interesting. To those that say this looks nothing like Galactus obviously they can't make it look identical to Galactus due to the nature of the contract, and MCU Dormammu looks nothing like Dormammu so try to just use a little imagination. Not saying that this is right but if this were to be an easter egg akin to the Helicarrier in Deadpool it wouldn't be too outlandish.

I really like this idea. Marvel was probably going for he rights to Galactus, and were looking toward the future. While they will never say this is Galactus' head, I could totally see Marvel doing this.
Its probably why James Gunn has not told anyone the final major easter egg as well

Its the Galactus Engine part of the theory that really gives it teeth..Ive been saying for years that i think Surfer and Galactus will both end up in the Infinity story in some way. I think out of all of their baddies Marvel wants in order... Thanos, Galactus and Doom. The Magus is going to be a natural extension for the Cosmic side and that will easily open up the Cancer Verse. Galactus plays his role in that as well. Im very aware of the rights issues but i think Fox can be financially convinced that FF characters are not in their best interests. The next 10 years of the MCU are going to be very interesting. the Cosmic side has tremendous options, im not sure where the Avengers fit in that or what Earth threats they deal with. i also think a battle world Secret Wars scenerio is not out of the question.
