From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro, Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released on August 1st.

They're lucky Disney owns them so they can be allowed to say that.

You can't compare Star Wars. Only Star Wars can compare with Star Wars because Star Wars was an original masterpiece and wasn't based off of a comic book that just recently been revamp.

Honestly, I can see this being the situation;
- Those who believe the only 'space' story is Star Wars will get their sequels and spin-offs to keep them entertained
- Those in a new generation or those who are open to the idea of playing around with action sci-fi films will be able to sit back and enjoy Guardians Of The Galaxy.

Granted their will be those that enjoy both, however Guardians Of The Galaxy does seem to fill in the aspects that Star Wars was lacking such as comedy and outlandish aliens. They'll end up both complimenting each other I'm guessing and their will be aspects that work better in one film than the other.

MrCBM56, Perhaps not, however I would imagine a lot of studios threatening to sue if a rival studio mentioned something like that, especially when they have a new movie coming out.

"It's Star Wars for a new generation"

I'm looking forward to this movie, but critics say that EVERY time a new sci fi movie comes out.

If it is Stars Wars for the next generation, what does that make the new Star Wars movie?

@MidNightWind Lol wtf are you talking about?? Star Wars was based on like 5 different things (Flash Gordon, John Carter from Mars, The Hidden Fortress,etc.)It wasn't that original. So seat down, old man.

Just 'cause a movie is fun and creative and will make children force their parents to buy them action figures doesn't mean it's the next Star Wars.
