Ronan The Accuser Stands Tall In Revealing New GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Still

We've seen some promo art and the odd shot of Ronan the Accuser (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug's Lee Pace), but the latest issue of Empire Magazine features our best look yet at the villain who will be serving Thanos in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy! Check it out.

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

With Thanos set to play only a small role in Guardians of the Galaxy (according to some reports anyway), fans were worried that Ronan the Accuser might be lacking in star power as the main foe for the quirky team. Well, based on this image, it seems fair to say that Lee Pace will be a VERY imposing presence in the movie. Stay tuned to CBM for more on this movie, and be sure to pick up the latest issue of Empire Magazine when it goes on sale this week! What do you think?

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gilian, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro, Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released on August 1st.
