Vin Diesel Hints That He's Voicing "I Am Groot" In Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY
After months of him talking about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Vin Diesel has taken to his Facebook yet again to hint what his big meeting with Marvel Studios entailed. Check it out!
While heavy speculation and years of self-campaigning pointed to the Fast and the Furious star playing The Vision in an upcoming Marvel movie, Vin Diesel now hints that he's lending his gravelly voice to the walking/talking tree known as Groot in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Moments ago, the 46-year-old actor nonchalantly updated his cover image on Facebook with an early iteration of the "houseplant/muscle" character from the comics. But of course, we shouldn't take this as confirmation, especially considering Marvel's head honcho Kevin Feige stated there was/is "nothing to announce." However, Vin Diesel did promise last month, during his Riddick panel at San Diego Comic-Con, that "big news was coming at the end of the month," concerning his involvement with Marvel. Anyhow, it's worth noting that Vin Diesel voiced the titular robot in The Iron Giant (1999), and he will be seen next in Riddick & Fast & Furious 7. Assuming Diesel will recite "I am Groot" in Guardians of the Galaxy, the only mysteries surrounding the James Gunn-directed film that remain is who'll play the titan Thanos and voice the gun-toting Rocket Raccoon. What do you think?
“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for August 1, 2014!
