GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 Concept Art Reveals A Startling New Look For Kurt Russell's Ego

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn has said from the start that he had no plans to make J'Son the father of Star-Lord in the sequel (mostly because his name and personality sucks). However, had Marvel been unable to get their hands on the rights to Ego the Living Planet, could things have changed? Perhaps as this new concept art for the movie is labelled with the villain's name.

It's possible, of course, that that's just because this costume is quite clearly based on the character's comic book appearance, but this is a very different looking take on Ego to the one we ended up with.

Regardless of whether the plan for this look was for J'Son,
Ego, or just a random piece dreamed up during an early stage in the production process, it's an interesting look and one which would have no doubt made Kurt Russell's character quite a bit different. What do you guys think? Sound off below.
