Zoë Saldaña Talks GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Script, Chris Pratt’s Casting & Gamora’s Look

Praising the “levity” of the James Gunn-written script, Avatar actress Zoe Saldana has discussed more about going green for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and joining Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt!

“It feels unique, but it doesn't feel like it hasn't been done before. I loved the levity in the script and I liked the casting of Chris Pratt. I've been a fan [of his] and I think his gifted natural comedic timing might come in handy to play someone like Star-Lord. I was just excited to be asked to join by James Gunn and to also play someone green. I've been blue before. I'm in the process right now of the evolution of conceiving Gamora's look. It's exciting! We're trying to work out comfort also, because you know that I definitely want to be involved in the stunt-doing of my character.”

Marvel Studios presents “Guardians of the Galaxy”—A big space epic featuring an unlikely cast of Marvel characters, including Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Groot and Rocket Raccoon, who must team up in order to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions. Starring Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond and Lee Pace and directed by James Gunn from a screenplay by James Gunn, “Guardians of the Galaxy” is based on the Marvel comic book series “Guardians of the Galaxy,” first published in 1969 and relaunched in 2008. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will distribute “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014. In addition to “Guardians of the Galaxy”, Marvel Studios will release “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; the sequel to “Marvel's The Avengers” on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

Gamora's current armored (but decidedly less shapely) look has grown on me, thanks to spectacular rendering by Steve McNiven. I wouldn't mind if they went with that.

But the skimpy outfit from DnA's run is my favorite.

Very interesting position for Marvel right now.

I wonder how they will treat the source material going forward. They really didn't care for it in Iron Man 3. Let's see how it turns out here.

Perfect.

Of course they aren't going to go with an exact replica of the comic. It's going to be an adaptation -- adapted for film. That's fine with me.

I trust Gunn & Marvel to get this right, pleasing as many fanboys while making it appealing to the general public. Thus, they will generate more dough, and make more movies. Huzzah!

No woman is going to fit the comic version of these characters unless you get a porn star and then dubbed a real actress voice over them.

Agreed. Looks pretty cool, and would work with Saldana. Would also prevent the lady-folk from turning their noses up at this, and driving down ticket sales.

Gamora's classic costume is impractical and ridiculous. The current one actually looks like something that an actual person who will be in a fight could wear.

Someone again complaining about "source material" yet they probably haven't even read it.lol

Anyway, I just want to know who the villain(s) are? I'm thinking Korvac...and maybe the Badoons??
