HE-MAN & THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Netflix CGI Series Character Redesigns Revealed Via New Promo Art

It's been a while since we've seen anything from Netflix's upcoming He-Man and The Masters of the Universe CG animated series (we got a single announcement poster back in 2019), but thanks to some new promo art and a first look at some tie-in action figures (via Toyark.com), we have a much better idea of how several of the heroes and villains of Eternia will be depicted in the show.

The promo art features He-Man astride Battle Cat, while action figures for Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and the muscle-bound hero have also been revealed.

It's worth noting that the He-Man and Battle Cat figures look a lot more like their classic counterparts and quite a bit different to the artwork, but the latter will likely be closer to the version of the character we'll see on screen.

He-Man has clearly been hitting the gym... maybe a little too hard!

Mattel MOTU Mega Construx Battle Cat
“On the planet of Eternia, a young lost prince discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe! The classic battle between He-Man and evil Skeletor rages to new heights as both hero and villain forge new and mighty teams. A new generation of heroes fighting for the fate of us all. In the end, who will become Master of the Universe?"

This new series - which is separate to Kevin Smith's Masters of the Universe: Revelation - is expected to serve as a follow-up to the '80s animated favorite, and will "reimagine the Masters of the Universe classic tale with all-new storylines and a fresh take on the iconic characters."

The show is being executive produced by Adam Bonnett (Descendants), Christopher Keenan (Justice League), Rob David (Masters of the Universe: Revelation), Jeff Matsuda (The Batman), Susan Corbin (Voltron), and Arrow’s Bryan Q Miller.

So which one is the sequel to the original show? I was under the impression that Kevin Smith was doing that but this article describes this show as a “follow-up”.

Wheres the live-action He-man weve been promised for over 3 decades!?@?! Who wants to see a slightly jazzed up version of the 80s cartoon for F sake ??

@emeraldtaurus - Thank GOD that one they were gonna make in the last few years dried up. The guy they had in mind was absolutely wrong. Feige!! This brand needs help identifying what has made these characters endure, and us fans personally protective, for decades! C’mon, there was a Marvel comic!

@SanFranLand - Pretty sure it was a DC comic...

@Chewtoy - Yep! The newer one. But the “vintage” run is Marvel/Star. Star had the reprint rights, it looks like. The OG run ended with the death (and triumphant return!) of He-Man. Snoogins!

@SanFranLand - While I didn’t actually know about the Star run, the DC comic run I was thinking of predates it:

That first image looks more like promo art for Fortnite than the He-Man show itself

Top image is whack. Super stylized for no damned reason. The art on the original toys was created in the style of classic fantasy art. Paintings. Creatures and scenarios of mystery and adventure. Some creatures scared the crap out of me as a kid and blasted my imagination in multiple directions.

The Kevin Smith one is the one I’m excited about (2nd image). With just some minor tweaks we get an updated He-Man universe. Can’t wait to watch Kev’s series!!

Oh good. I was hoping this wasn't the Kevin Smith one lol he has more respect for 80s nostalgia than this
