HELLBOY Red Band Trailer Spells Out Why The Movie Has An R-Rating In Gruesome Fashion

Lionsgate has released one more trailer for the Hellboy reboot ahead of its April 12 release, and this latest look at the movie hammers home that R-rating with a stone fist.

The gruesome teaser contains various bloody shots of decapitations, faces being ripped off, eyes being torn out, and a couple of F-bombs for good measure. It all looks pretty cool, but will the movie be any good?

Well, it still hasn't been screened for critics as far as we know and there have been no reactions online, so that may be cause for concern. At any rate, you can find out for yourselves this weekend. In the meantime, check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments.

Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy (David Harbour), a demon caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.

Hellboy stars David Harbour, Milla Jovovich, Ian McShane, Daniel Dae Kim, Sasha Lane, Thomas Haden Church, Penelope Mitchell, Sophie Okonedo, Brian Gleeson, and Kristina Klebe.

@aflynn - This and the other red band trailer make it look really fun! I was not excited for this at all from the first trailer, but now I'm sold.

I don't expect anything deep, just a fun movie and it looks like it will deliver that.

@aflynn - Star Wars the force awakens wasn't screened for critics and that film was pretty good. I'm optimistic as the film looks batshit crazy and fun. If it comes out terrible in audience and critic reviews, I will sadly skip to save money this year.

I like the look of the movie itself, but I can't help but feel like it is going to end up being way over the top and campy.

I hope they prove me wrong. I want to like this film.

So when they set out to make an R rated movie for all us sophisticated mature adults, just how many 15 year olds did they survey?

Really nails the contemplative, quiet tone of the comics.
