In 2009, New Line Cinema released a reboot of one of their most valuable horror film franchises,
Friday the 13th. The film was poorly received and a second reboot is slated for a 2016 release. In 2010, a similarly poorly received reboot of
A Nightmare On Elm Street was released. Now, it appears New Line Cinema may have plans to wipe the slate clean yet again for the franchise, or so
The Tracking Board reports.
The franchise primarily focuses on groups of teenagers who are hunted in their dreams by a supernatural serial killer. The basic premise is that if said character dies in the dream, they die in real life.
Very little is known about the possible upcoming reboot at this point, although it is safe to assume that the series' iconic villain, Freddy Krueger, will be making a comeback. The character has been previously portrayed by Jackie Earl Haley and, most notably, Robert Englund. To date, Krueger has appeared in every single film in the franchise.
Can this reported reboot succeed where the 2010 film failed? The fate of the
A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise could depend on the new reboot's success, as the franchise has been dead ever since the sequel to the 2010 film went into development hell.

Welcome, I am Darkknight2149. I am primarily a fan of comic books and their various adaptations, as well as horror and other classic film franchises.
As far as the "DC vs. Marvel" rivalry goes, I'm really not biased when it comes to studios and publishers. Preferences are fine, but I've never understood the basing of opinions purely by the studio/publisher that makes it.
