CBS has shared the first full trailer for upcoming The Silence of the Lambs sequel series, Clarice, which stars Aussie actress Rebecca Breeds (The Originals, Pretty Little Liars) in the lead role of Clarice Starling; the intuitive detective previously played by both Jodie Foster and Julianne Moore on the big screen.

Set one year after the events of Lambs, Clarice follows the titular FBI Agent as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high-stakes political world of Washington, D.C.

It's been confirmed that Hannibal Lecter will not appear (in fact, the character can't even be mentioned by name due to the complex rights issues between MGM, Dino De Laurentiis, and CBS), but it does look like we may see flashback's to the Buffalo Bill case that helped build Starling's reputation.

Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think.

Clarice also stars Marnee Carpenter (Criminal Minds, Good Girls), Jayne Atkinson (Criminal Minds, House of Cards), Shawn Doyle (The Comey Rule, The Expanse), and Tim Guinee (Homeland, Elementary). Elizabeth Klaviter is on board as showrunner and executive producer.

The show is set to premiere on February 7.

Navigating the high-stakes political world of Washington, D.C.? Surely a congressman is a serial killer. The great enemy of the season.

@Repian - the great enemy of us all. Lol

Looks actually okay. Still I'm absolutely opposed to this show as it's MGMs way of saying "f*** you" to the producers of "Hannibal"

This just makes me miss the Hannibal show. Is it wrong that the meals he made looked delicious?

@PerrinNation1 - Some of the nicest cooking scenes in a show.

@PerrinNation1 - The editing, the camera work, the classical music, the way Hannibal describes the meals to his guests and the way they react gushingly afterwards. Even if you know the character and that one of the ingredients probably has a person somewhere in there, it makes you really hungry for a nice New York Strip Steak or such.

To be honest it feels like it could have been good if it came out before true detective, but now it feels a tad generic and meh particularly without hannibal in it since they don't have the rights.

@rebellion - Funny you say that because I think Bryan Fuller's choice for Clarice if Hannibal got around to adapting Silence of the Lambs was Elliot Page.

A CBS show actually looks....decent.

Sad that they cannot mention Hannibal. Also makes me want Hannibal season 4 so bad.

It looks like it has potential, but I would be more excited for this, if this was on HBO or Showtime.

I would even say FX as well. They did such a great job with the Fargo series.

Hannibal season 4 adapting Silence of the Lambs is what I need. This looks fine, but meh. Feels like it will just devolve into big government conspiracy theories, like Punisher did.

I haven’t enjoyed anything CBS since Brain Dead. I tried the new version of The Stand but was extremely disappointed and only watched the first 2 parts.

@AnthonyVonGeek - Brain Dead was top-notch! That and the Limitless TV show are probably the only CBS shows I've enjoyed in the last 10 years.

The most interesting thing about Silence of the Lambs (Hannibal) isn't allowed to be in this. I don't see how it makes it past 1-2 seasons. Then again, crap seems to thrive on CBS for some reason.

Seems kinda boring without Hannibal in the mix.
