"Mommy's with the maggots now..."

The recent red band trailer for Evil Dead Rise seemed to go over pretty well with fans of the iconic horror franchise, delivering brutal, gruesome violence and plenty of unsettling imagery.

Now, a green band version has been released, and while it obviously tones down the gore to a significant degree, it's every bit as terrifying!

This pretty much serves as a brand-new trailer, with plenty of footage we didn't see in the original.

Evil Dead Rise is set to hit theaters on April 21, 2023. The horror flick will ditch the usual forest setting and move the gory action to the city, as "two estranged sisters’ reunion is cut short when flesh-possessing demons thrust them into a battle for survival."

Sam Raimi's microbudget original is still considered one of the best horror movies of all time, with direct sequels Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness as well as recent TV show Ash vs. The Evil Dead upping the comedic elements.

The well-received 2013 remake was a far more serious affair. We weren't sure which direction Rise would head in from a tonal standpoint, but based on these trailers, we don't anticipate it being a laugh riot!

This is old news… also the “remake” was actually an installment in the same continuity. Jane Levi’s character was originally going to team up with Ash down the road.

Hopefully this movie turns out to be GROOVY

@Rormachine

Hey, Ror. Quick question. I just wrote an article and placed it in Features. What does one have to do to get an article on main?

Just curious. Thanks man.

The love of my life was this beautiful blonde angel who was raised Christian. Like uber Christian. She even went to Christian College in New York. Her who family lived by the word of God.

She was/is a great woman. She's pure and good and kind and [frick]ing wholesome. Perfect in so many ways. She even believed that watching stuff like this, horror stuff, would in some way darken your mind and so she was strict that she wouldn't watch anything that would be considered evil or horror. She wouldn't even celebrate Halloween because of witchcraft and Satan worshiping lol

I, very much, am the opposite. I grew up as an infant watching rated R movies with my dad, alien triple boobs and heads exploding was a regular staple of my developmental years. I was watching George Romero and Sam Raimi before I was double digits years old. In fact I went to college for media arts and animation because I wanted to make a zombie catroon for Cartoon Network.

So when I met her, saying I had to sacrifice a huge chunk of who I am to be with her was an understatement. I had to nerd my entire lifestyle, but I figured that was growing up. She would mold me into the man I would need to be to leave my childhood behind aaaaaand...... it lasted 3 years and I got out of Dodge.

A few years have gone by since then and I sometimes wonder if I made the right decision, choosing myself over "the dream life".

Then I see trailers like this.

I totally made the right decision.

@DocSpock - that does make me feel better for her. But you, poor boy.... I'll get you in touch with my doctor. You're gonna need a new regiment of pills and creams to battle back the various STDs I just gave you.

Funny and cheesy Evil Dead is the best Evil Dead. Give me boom sticks and chain saw arms.

@MrDandy - I agree. It's important not to forget Evil Dead comes in 2 flavors though, campy and serious. The very first Evil Dead was serious. Evil Dead 2 evolved into camp as Sam allowed Bruce to stretch his talents and also himself having a love for vaudevillian slap stick humor like the 3 stooges and Chaplin.

But Sam has always had a desire to see his baby taken seriously, and to flex his serious horror muscles.

I too find it hard to accept Evil Dead without camp, but we also haven't seen this yet. It might have some sleeper camp.

I'm very excited for Evil Dead Rise will be there opening day.

I saw 'M3gan' tonight its part 'Child's Play,' part 'Terminator,' and all fun The robot doll of your nightmares is a scream in director Gerard Johnstone's horror romp.

4 stars / 5 stars for me.

True fact: The term evil dead was coined decades ago when Gusto got real drunk and forgot he'd left all his frat brothers locked in his basement prank.
