I don't know about you guys but when I had to read "Pride and Prejudice" I nearly died of boredom. Then some guy took advantage of public domain laws and took Jane Austen's novel and added new parts with zombies! Guess what? The book became not so boring! Of course it didn't take Hollywood too long to realize that a Victorian zombie movie could make a lot of money. So it's no surprise that a cast and a director is slowly coming together. Collider had this to say:
"The list to direct the adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s horror-comedy parody novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is growing after David O. Russell left the project at the beginning of the month. As we previously reported, David Slade (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) is on the list. Deadline updated their original story by reporting that Mike Newell (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) and Neil Marshall (Centurion) are also in the running. TheWrap is also throwing out some interesting names circling the project: Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs), Matt Reeves (Let Me In), Mike White (The Year of the Dog), and the directing team of Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs)."
They also go on a bit about the potential cast, to which Natalie Portman was once connected to but has now decided only to produce...
"...before he left the project, David O. Russell had Scarlett Johansson stepping into replace Portman as Elizabeth Bennet, and Bradley Cooper would play Mr. Darcy. Obviously, a new director may want to pick their own leads, but Deadline says that Johansson and Cooper are still the frontrunners.
Mia Wasikowska is also possible contender to play Elizabeth, and that Tilda Swinton and Catherine O’Hara have been mentioned for the roles of Lady Catherine and Mrs. Bennet, respectively."
Now I don't know about y'all but I'm a complete sucker for ANYTHING with zombies. Read the book it's pretty cool. What say you?
