The news that none other than Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok, The Lord of the Rings) had signed on to play Lilith in Cabin Fever director Eli Roth's adaptation of Gearbox Software and 2K's Borderlands video game was confirmed late last year, and that was followed by the announcement that Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) is set to join her as Roland.
Now, THR reports that the project has added yet another A-lister in the form of Halloween icon Jamie Lee Curtis.
The Knives Out star is set to play a character from the games named Tannis, who is described as "an archaeologist on Pandora who might have the key to finding the vault, but whose complicated history with Lilith isn’t going to help."
Borderlands is a somewhat bizarre and very violent first-person, loot-based shooter which focuses on four “Vault Hunters” fending off local marauders while searching for advanced alien tech on a planet called Pandora. There have been three games released so far, and all have done very well. Borderlands 3 hit shelves in 2019 went on to sell over 8 million copies.
This big-screen take is being developed at Lionsgate and will work off a script from Chernobyl screenwriter Craig Mazin. Roth will also produce along with Avi and Ari Arad through their Arad Productions banner.
What do you guys make of this news? Do you think Curtis is a good fit for Tannis? Let us know in the usual place.
