HALLOWEEN KILLS' Original Ending Has Been Revealed, And It Sounds A LOT Better - SPOILERS

Halloween Kills has proved to be a highly divisive instalment in the franchise overall, but the ending, in particular, has come in for a lot of criticism.

Major spoilers ahead.

In the final scene, Karen (Judy Greer) walks back into Michael Myers' old house (for reasons best known to the writers) after seemingly putting the masked maniac down for good along with the residents of Haddonfield. Of course, it takes more than a few bullets and a knife in the neck to put an end to the boogeyman, and he appears behind Karen before brutally stabbing her to death.

The movie concludes with both Myers and Karen's mother, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), looking out of their respective windows, but the original ending detailed in the script played out slightly differently.

Karen is still killed, but Laurie then calls her daughter's phone, and Michael picks up. After hearing "The Shape" breathing, Laurie realizes what's happened and tells him, "I'm coming for you, Michael!" Strode then picks up the knife Allison was gripping in the final shot of the last film, and strides down the hospital corridor for a confrontation with her nemesis.

This would have done a much better job of setting up Halloween Ends, although director David Gordon Green has confirmed a 4-year time-jump between movies, so maybe that's why this scene was ultimately dropped.

What did you guys think of this alternate ending? Let us know in the comments, and be sure to check out our ranking of all 12 movies in the Halloween franchise.

Eh, maybe a little inappropriate knowing he just killed your daughter?

If she tears up or cries before she says that then maybe it could work. Will have to see it motion.

Reminds me of how they treated Toby Huss’ character after he was brutally murdered. They made sure to include a line this time around but goddamn, Michael just murdered the father of your child and he hardly was mentioned. Haha.

@regularmovieguy - or how Tony Stark makes a joke about 30 seconds after seeing Pepper fall to her supposed “death” in Iron Man 3 lol smh

I agree though - it wouldn’t be as poignant if Laurie didn’t completely lose it after hearing the call and instead going into straight combat mode

@regularmovieguy - hahah

I love Marvel films but I hate the quipping mandates that each film obviously has. Not everything needs to be joke joke joke joke

@TheLobster - That's false though. He doesn't crack a joke. All that happens is that he calls for his armour, only for it fall to pieces before it reaches him. He sighs and tiredly says 'whatever'. In that moment, he says very little and seems hell Bent on killing Killian

@TheLobster - I actually think the MCU has gotten much better in its placement of humor actually. Sure, there are outliers but for instance, movies like Infinity War, Civil War, Endgame, Black Panther, Shang-Chi were all very good with where they used humor

I don't know, that ending would have made next movie's time skip kinda unintentionally humorous.

Movie was decent. If the characters had a shred of common sense and made rational decisions, this movie would have been several scores higher, IMO. But overall, I loved the final confrontation with Michael and the mob, I loved seeing how Michael affected ALL of Haddonfield, and so many of those kills were so good.

Ehhhh I don’t know if this is a much better ending. Seeing Michael possibly pick up an iPhone would be the very definition of cringe. Even if it was off camera..

I did immediately wonder about that shot of Laurie walking down the hospital with knife in hand from the trailers and immediately figured it was an ending shot that was cut.

Haha I was thinking of how we would look with an iPhone pressed against his mask. It does sound goofy but I am curious to see how this plays out in motion.

@TheLobster - I honestly thought the ending was fine because again - this is a bridge to the finale film - not something that’s going to have much resolution/conclusion.

@regularmovieguy - I imagine it would be off camera but still.. that’s reaching Halloween Resurrections levels of silliness.

Yeah you can tell they were really banking on Halloween ends taking place on the same night as kills. Everyone saying "Evil Dies Tonight" a hundred times in kills also makes more since in context. I actually prefer having a time jump for ends, it gives the films more time to breath and now you can see the lasting effect that Michael has had on everyone in Haddonfield.

I have a feeling the first scene we will see in Halloween Ends is Laurie burning down the Meyers home. I think Laurie may get killed midway but leaves Allison a guidebook and weapons for her to kill Michael if Laurie failed.
