Jack Black Set To Star In GOOSEBUMPS Movie

Jack Black Set To Star In GOOSEBUMPS Movie

The School Of Rock actor is apparently in talks with Sony to star in a movie version of the classic children's horror franchise which a whole generation of kids scared themselves silly with. This probably won't be taken very seriously though..

According to The Wrap, Jack Black will re-team with his Gulliver's Travels director Rob Letterman for a live action take R.L. Stine's Goosebumps -- the second most popular book franchise in the world, spawning a tv series, video games and comic books along the way. The site report that Black would play a "Stine-like author whose scary characters literally leap off the page, forcing him to hide from his own creepy creations." All sounds very Night At The Museum...what do you fans of the books think about this take? Sony execs Hannah Minghella and Elizabeth Cantillon will oversee the “Goosebumps” movie for the studio.

Nice to see Jack still working these days.

Also I loved Goosebumps. Saw the show, read the books. Scary enough for kids without blood and gore in a way.

"Probably won't be taken very seriously though."
I used to love the show as a kid just like everyone else but watching them on Netflix as an adult you realize it was far from serious lol
I'll be checking the movie out.

I remember reading "Let's Get Invidible" in the third grade. I came home that night and we just so happened to have pizza for dinner. When I think about it now I do nothing but laugh but back then I was so scared I couldn't eat that night and pizza is one of my favorite meals! lol

Good times good times!

But my main question here is will he be the character RL.Stine played who walked around with the briefcase? Or will he be doing voice work? How many stories are they combining into one film?

And I hope they alter the original theme to make it sound more menacing and frightening! :D

I loved the books and TV show as a kid. Both scared the crap out of me.

I remember they did a line of interactive books where at the end of each chapter you were asked to make a choice that would affect the outcome of the plot.

I'm not really expecting much from the director of Gulliver's Travels.

When the Night of the Living Dummy episode premiered when I was a kid, I couldn't watch it, I still had my phobia of Chucky and Slappy just made it worse lol

Best book IMO and my favorite story is still The Haunted Mask :]

Ah yes Goosebumps great childrens book series. I read those and watched the tv show too. My favorite book from the series aswell as the tv Show was the masked mutant. In the tv show the masked mutants superhero arch nemisis was the Galloping Gazelle played by Adam West. The books and show were a lot of fun. Looking forward to this.
