It's just been officially announced that Jamie Lee Curtis will return as Michael Myers' long-suffering sister for the upcoming Halloween relaunch, which will evidently not be a full reboot of the iconic horror franchise.

David Gordon Green (Eastbound & Down, Pineapple Express, Our Brand Is Crisis) is on board to direct new movie from a script co-written by frequent collaborator Danny McBride. John Carpenter will executive produce.

Curis played Laurie Strode in the first 2 Halloween movies before returning for H2O in 1998. The character was then actually killed-off in Halloween: Resurrection in 2002, but it's hardly surprising that particular instalment is not being taken as canon.

Specific plot details are under wraps, but it'll most likely involve a masked maniac killing lots of people.

Really hope Michael Myers is like he was in the original two. Not some satanic sorcerer dude. Just a guy who is really, really evil but simultaneously so jacked up on morphine (he escapes from a hospital) that it's why he doesn't feel pain and can still "move" despite his injuries.

I don't get the hate for the Rob Zombie duo flicks. I actually loved his take on the franchise, and the job he did directing them. I grew up watching the originals and thought they were bottom of the barrel when compared to other slasher movies from the time. And most of the sequels were utter garbage.

They already did that with Halloween: H20. I watched all the Halloween movies last year. They start to blur together between 4, 5, and 6. The Rob Zombie movies sucked.

@MasterMix - They got MM physicality right and delving into his insanity but Rob Zombie just goes too far into the extreme stuff like the sex and raunch to the point of it being masturbatory and garish
