Legendary Pictures: Godzilla -- An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Gareth Edwards directs Godzilla, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ken Watanabe, Elizabeth Olsen, and Juliette Binoche, with David Strathairn and Bryan Cranston. The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers. Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher are the executive producers, alongside Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira. The film is from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures.

GODZILLA will stomp into theaters May 16, 2014.

what is the difference between this film and the 1998 film? More special effects?

Nice!

Hopefully, this version won't suck like the 1998 one did. I have a lot of faith in this film.

^Better special effects. Respect and recognition of the Toho series. He's a dinosaur-esque creature, not a lizard. It's not shit.

I hope this is very scary. I want people jumping out of their seats right next to me, and hear high pitch lady screams. some of those might be from me lol.

Uhm, that info-graphic can't be right. It says that the 1984 Godzilla was 100m, while the 2000 Godzilla was just over 50m. Then it shows new Godzilla at just over 100m. 1984 Godzilla was CLEARLY nowhere near the size of new Godzilla.

Here's a more accurate one:

I know that size chart is technically accurate but it's still worthless because its all up to the prop department , I've seen shots if HZ looking over 330 feet tall in the older movies

and Godzilla will get bigger with absorbing more radiation
TheGambitFreak
TheGambitFreak - 2/27/2014, 10:09 PM
See? That's what I thought... In this film, WW2 era Godzilla will be kinda small and in shape. After the nuke and exposure to radiation, he'll get bigger and fatter... Kinda like How Godzilla kept glowing and melting in Godzilla vs. Destroyah.

I hear this design came from unused Michael Bay Ninja Turtles concept art.

The teaser trailer used the soundbite from Oppenheimer's interview when he was asked about his involvement with the Manhattan Project. I wish they would've kept that in the second trailer. It's a badass way to acknowledge that Godzilla was created because of the atomic bomb tests.

@DestroyallTrolls haha, thanks! It comes complete with Bay-splosions in the picture and everything

They really made Godzilla ridiculously massive in this one. He dwarfs the skyscrapers in San Francisco by a substantial margin. How do you defeat something that large?

Hell, I think he'd squish Gypsy Danger and the kaijus from Pacific Rim under one of his feet.

I'm not one to jump on little clues and overreact, but what has Empire been told that we haven't? The wording on the last photo, "Ford amid monster-clash mayhem." Obviously they're less than subtly trying to hide the fact that there are multiple monsters; at least Godzilla and one winged monster with pterodactyl-type claws and big enough to knock a 747 out of the sky. But I think saying that the military personnel are acting "amid" a "clash" of monsters all but confirms what we've expected.

@Chloefornication They didn't make it worse at all, and there are multiple Godzilla designs much larger than this from Toho. Several of them also have small necks and small mouths/heads. Again, they made nothing worse. And why would he touch the ground with his mouth anyway?

At least watch the movie first before clearing that a design is bad and will be awful during the movie. Obviously it will look better in motion, and we don't know how effective everything will be until then. i'm sure they've thought far enough in know they have to make a design that will work in both departments.

If Godzilla is a hero I hope he's a tragic hero.

The original movie made him like a Frankenstein monster who was a cursed abomination created by the American nuclear strike.

@Cloefornication

So you saw the movie already? How was it? Seriously, though, obesity is a sign of opulence on Monster Island. How do you not know this?
