Tonight's Big Game brought us new TV spots and trailers for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Fast 9, and Raya and The Last Dragon, but we also got a first look at M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming supernatural thriller, Old.

The Glass director's latest is set for theatrical release on July 23, and follows a family who go on vacation to a mysterious, secluded beach, where they come to the realization that they are ageing at a rapid rate.

The teaser doesn't really reveal much more beyond the overall premise, but it's certainly an intriguing first glimpse of the divisive filmmaker's next project.

Check it out below along with the poster, and let us know what you think.

“This summer, Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly … reducing their entire lives into a single day.”

Based on the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters, Old stars Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Rufus Sewell, Ken Leung, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abbey Lee, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, Embeth Davidtz, Eliza Scanlen, Emun Elliott, Kathleen Chalfant and Thomasin McKenzie.

@dracula - if you haven’t already, I’d highly recommend his return to horror in The Visit.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - That movie was host to one of my favorite movie-going experiences ever. Everybody was shrieking and laughing and cheering the entire time, and it was just a great energy going on in there.

@MUTO123 - Same for my theater. Strange movie, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't entertained.

I hope it’s better than Glass. That movie was such a let down.

The Sandcastle novel is one of those stories that is so smartly put together, with great design and brilliantly thought out characters - but ultimately it’s execution let’s it down. It lacked a stable structure throughout, even a conclusive ending.

I think this is right up Shyamalan’s ball park, I even think he could elevate the ending and structure if he’s able to leave his own wacky ideas out, and just stick to using the wacky source material - as well as filtering the story to connect with the audience.

@Poopmaster89 - okay... but before I do, I’m gonna just disclaim imma bout to spoil the graphic novel, and not the films ending.

SPOILER FOR GRAPHIC NOVEL

The story concludes with the characters just accepting their fate. They accept death as their eventual fate - so they just embrace it and enjoy whatever few hours they have left. There’s no big plot twist, explanation as to why they’re drastically ageing - the story is supposed to be a fabled version of reality, dawning real political themes such as: racism, sexism, ageism, and so on... it’s trying to field the perception of - would you really care about someone’s skin colour, sexual orientation, religious beliefs if you were told you only had hours to live?

It’s basically a Twilight Zone/Black Mirror styled plot. The ending is up to the readers interpretation of the story. Hence why I think Shyamalan could create something really special, or something really flat out of this.
