Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

Fede Alvarez directed the remake, which is set to wrap production sometime this month. The cast includes Jane Levy (Suburgatory) as Mia, Shiloh Fernandez (Deadgirl, Red Riding Hood) as David, Lou Taylor Pucci (Carriers) as Eric, Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) as Olivia, and Elizabeth Blackmore (Legend of the Seeker) as Natalie.

Evil Dead is set to hit theaters April 12th, 2013.

Sweet. I love the original. Such a classic.

Yeah an Evil Dead Reboot. The film that nobody was clamoring for but has to be made. Is Hollywood really running out of ideas.

BTW I love the Evil Dead trilogy, but I will not go see this movie.

OMG! @RidiculousFanBoyDemands and I agree on something. *Looking around waiting for the world to end*

Never thought that would happen, but I agree completely. I am very tired of all the remakes. Do something new. There are plenty of properties out there that can make some big money with out rebooting a classic series of movies.

Wow, you're going to condemn a movie that hasn't even had anything released from it yet?
Not a trailer, set pic, nothing.
People just come off as ignorant when they say things like that.
It's a MOVIE. It might not even be anything like ED 1. It's just a new take on it.
It could be fun and different, like Cabin In The Woods.
A movie that if I remember correctly, was being condemned by a lot of people because they said it would be an "Evil Dead ripoff" before anything from it was even released.
I'm a fan of the series too and I'm happy that Evil Dead will be introduced to a new audience, most people haven't even heard of it before. We need more fun and scary horror movies, especially since horror movies in general are becoming pretty rare. I'm tired of people saying "Hollywood is so unoriginal". Reboots/remakes have helped movie franchises to acquire new audiences to check out the older movies.

It even has the old producers from the originals.
And it says a "new vision" which is implying it's a REBOOT, not a REMAKE.
There's a difference. Reboot is restarting from the beginning and taking a franchise into a different direction with a new story. A remake is basically updating a movie to modern times, featuring the same story and a lot of the most memorable moments of the original.

@ hope420
You realize that it was Bruce and Raimi's idea to reboot it right?

And how do you know if this movie's bad when they haven't released anything from it yet?
At least wait 'til there's a trailer before you condemn it.

Ryan Reynolds would have made a good Ash.

I can't believe Raimi opted for this soulless reboot over Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash!

I've had an idea of who could play Ash for awhile now.
Johnny Knoxville.
Don't crap on that idea just yet!
Now picture the laughing scene from Evil Dead 2 with Knoxville dressed up like Ash.
He would just need to beef up his voice a little.

I almost love that banner, but it only goes 75% of the way.

A NEW VISION OF THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE IN GRUELING TERROR FROM THE PRODUCERS OF THE ORIGINAL CLASSIC.

If they do a poster that is just those words, I would have a beautiful laugh, and I'm totally down for a remake. While Evil Dead is a huge part of my filmmaking bible (and Evil Dead 2 is in my top 5 movies, period), I'm not blind to the fact that it was made for $300,000. To paraphrase Greg Nicotero, had that movie had the budget to do more believable effects, it would have been scarier than the Exorcist.

Why do people get so pissed off when certain movies get rebooted. Be happy there trying to do something else with something you enjoy. If it sucks it doesn't taint the original, it just makes it even better than it was. I love evil dead and Bruce as much as anyone and would rather see a reimagining of it than a fourth installment that tries to be on the same page as the rest were. If they chose this over evil dead 4 obviously evil dead 4 wasn't good enough. Can't wait for some footage!

@churchofcomics-ummmm, the original Evil Dead had no camp or funny elements in it. So, really, this one shouldn't either. The comedy didnt' come into it until Evil Dead 2 and even more so in Army of Darkness.
