TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE Reboot Poster Released - The Face Of Madness Returns In 2021

The upcoming Fede Alvarez-produced Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot hit a snag when it lost directors Ryan and Andy Tohill, but David Blue Garcia took over, and the movie is now on track for a 2021 release.

Legendary Pictures' Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot recently hit a roadblock when it lost original directors Ryan and Andy Tohill (The Dig) over creative differences just one week after commencing production in Bulgaria, but it doesn't look like the setback had too much of a negative impact on filming.

An official website for the horror revival is now online, revealing that Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner) and Moe Dunford (Vikings) have all joined the cast, and the movie is still on track to hit theatres next year.

We also have a first promo poster featuring Leatherface's skin mask along with the tagline, "The Face of Madness Returns."

This latest TCM movie will reportedly feature a much older take on power-tool swinging maniac. Listed in the character breakdown as "Kenny," he is described as being about 60-years-old with a large build, and is said to "primarily express himself with guttural noises that range from a howling belly laugh to a pig-like squeal."

Sounds about right, and suggests that this new movie will actually be more of a sequel than a reboot.

The plot will reportedly follow a 25-year old San Francisco moneymaker named Melody, who drags her wheelchair-bound sister Dreama to the Lone Star State on a business trip only to run into our human skin-mask wearing friend.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre now has David Blue Garcia on board as director. Fede Alvarez will produce.

@regularmovieguy - Zombies could be fun. The Black Ops Beta was actually really enjoyable, so might pick up Warzone again soon too

Leatherface and Michael Myers don’t know how to enjoy retirement, meanwhile Freddy and Jason are chillin at Hostel Transylvania

The odds of another handicapped person encountering Leatherface...

@Origame - its being described as a direct sequel to the original, kinda like Halloween 2018. Plus the director is from my TX/hometown so I'm kinda glad someone from the valley is getting some recognition

@JohnMarston220 - the last texas chainsaw movie was also advertised as a direct sequel to the original. In fact it was the plot of the 18 halloween with a child of someone from the original grown up and facing against the masked killer. This idea is in no way new territory for the franchise.

@Origame - made me think, what superhero franchise has made it to part 5? Supes stopped at 4, two different aged groups of X-men had four movies each, sharing DOFP. Wolverine been in plenty so I guess you could say him, especially since X-men franchise is a story. Same for plenty avengers. I think I just realized my question is rather pointless. It ain’t all about sequels, there’s prequels, sidequels, ensembles, cameos, keeps things fresh. Not clamoring for IM 4 after 3? AoU. Negative? Civil War. Man it’s been years since an Iron Man movie lol! And yet it’s only been one year.

@Origame - The only thing this has in common with Texas Chainsaw 3D is that their both direct sequels to the original, that's it. This new one that they're currently filming does not have that whole niece storyline. It's more akin to the original (or even the first remake) It's definitely not new or even original lol- but still different from TCM3D

@JohnMarston220 - yes, nothing in common. Except for all i mentioned. And the only detail YOU mentioned about this movie in comparison to 18 Halloween. As for being different to 3d, you dont know that. Just that its a sequel and the stuff they always promise with sequels.

I get horror and reboots are the shit nowadays in Hollywood, but horror is a genre that could actually benefit from original premises in my opinion (although it can quickly turn bad too if not executed well).

Also, a 2021 release? Placing bets that ain't gonna happen
