Legendary Pictures' Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot recently hit a roadblock when it lost original directors Ryan and Andy Tohill (The Dig) over creative differences just one week after commencing production in Bulgaria, but it doesn't look like the setback had too much of a negative impact on filming.
An official website for the horror revival is now online, revealing that Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner) and Moe Dunford (Vikings) have all joined the cast, and the movie is still on track to hit theatres next year.
We also have a first promo poster featuring Leatherface's skin mask along with the tagline, "The Face of Madness Returns."
This latest TCM movie will reportedly feature a much older take on power-tool swinging maniac. Listed in the character breakdown as "Kenny," he is described as being about 60-years-old with a large build, and is said to "primarily express himself with guttural noises that range from a howling belly laugh to a pig-like squeal."
Sounds about right, and suggests that this new movie will actually be more of a sequel than a reboot.
The plot will reportedly follow a 25-year old San Francisco moneymaker named Melody, who drags her wheelchair-bound sister Dreama to the Lone Star State on a business trip only to run into our human skin-mask wearing friend.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre now has David Blue Garcia on board as director. Fede Alvarez will produce.
