Knowing that the Twilight Saga is over is like going to the doctor's office and being told that the cancer that has long ravaged your body has gone into remission.

I know I'm gonna get shit for this like I did at school, but it was a good movie. When I say good, i mean i wasn't great, but alright for what it was. I thought the first half of the movie was pretty slow, but ok. But the second half of the movie was insane. I mean like extremly violent, for a pg-13 movie.

Breaking Dawn 2 was really fun and entertaining. It succeeding at being the film it wanted to be. If guys go in hoping its going to be some hardcore Vampire thing with some sword fights and dudes in black leather theyre going to be letdown.
I see guys doing to people who like Potter or Twilight, the same crap thats done to those who like Trek, Star Wars and at one time superhero films. Critics love to pan genre stuff and claim "Its bad but the fans will like it" and thats the same reaction some guys have with films that are popular with kids or girls.
So some guys may get pissed when they hear people slam their movies just because they dont like a certain genre but the fanboys are guilty of the same thing.

Ror, I thought it was relevant and hysterical.

As for all of those who have an opinion of what doesn't belong; start writing articles or leave.

Why do so many people put so much effort into trying to convey that they hate this series more than anyone else? Who cares? It's not really my style of movie but some people like it and that's fine. Just like a tv show you don't like, don't watch it. And if you've never seen it and you have negative things to say about it, that doesn't make sense either. Me thinks thou dost protest too much. I have a feeling a lot of these surface haters are closet watchers of this series.

There is a misconception about the Twilight movies out there - defenders of the saga seem to think that they are hated so much because of their subject matter, because their target audience is a bunch of screaming teenage girls, and somehow because the movies are not aimed at a broader audience, those outside the demographic view them with contempt. Now while this may be true in some cases, I can tell you that there is one reason and one reason only that the Twilight saga is so despised.

They are terrible movies.

I should probably add an "in my opinion" after that right? Well no, I'm not going to. Obviously everyone likes different types of films, everyone has a different gauge on what they consider to be "good" or "bad", it's all subjective. But aren't there standards at the same time? We judge movies based on their story, the performances, the direction etc, and when every single one of these falls below that certain standard, sometime you just have to come out and say it - lots of people liking a movie doesn't make it good, it just means lots of people like a bad [frick]ing movie. And the latest installment - despite what you might have heard from critics - might just be the worst yet.

Yes, I saw it - under duress - but I saw it. It's awful. Everything about it, awful. NOTHING happens for two hours, aside from a bunch of bland characters standing around spouting laughable dialog, then when something finally doe happen at the end...it's a dream..sorry, "premonition".

To answer you question Mugwamp, it's because we want good movies. Demographic shmemographic..there are PLENTY of movies not aimed at me specifically that I enjoy, but while garbage like this keeps making boat loads of money, they are going to keep making lazy, banal, soulless films..and as a film fan, well that's not a good thing is it?

Yeah, I'd like to second Ror's comments about why it matters that these films suck. And why we should be vocal about the hate.

Hollywood is a business. They put stuff out there every year, and see what sticks. Whatever sticks, they make more of it. Whatever doesn't stick, we see much less of it. The success of Avengers is leading to DC and Fox trying to start their own shared superhero universes. Films like Transformers lead to films like Battleship. Batman & Robin's failure (CRITICAL failure, it did make money), and then Batman Begins' success has lead to a string of reboots that take their source material more seriously as well as some misguided ones which just 'gritty' it up.

Anyways, my point is Hollywood is a bunch of monkey see monkey do. If we let the Twilight films slide by without completely trashing them, we will see a huge surge in those sort of films

When the first Twilight succeeded, there began an influx of Twilight-esque films (Beastly and all that crap), but Twilight was critically battered and nobody let the copycats gain any sort of steam. Now of course, Twilight maintained the audience it had already gained. But the incessant critiquing and stigmatizing of it prevented Hollywood churning out too many of them. I could say the exact same thing with Transformers' success and then Battleship's failure. But the point is made.

We NEED to hate on it, because it directly influences the product we'll get.
