Just meandering around. Howdy folks, great job these renditions. Got tons of skill floating around this metropolis of a fansite! HOPEFULLY, CBM is still up for SHAMAN's brilliant idea on their next artistic contest content. Hehe.

We'll see where that goes. I'm just wandering in the dark for now, like a light switch that has yet to be flipped. I'm working on Weeks 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 of my Spotlight since that's what I should have done by the time I reenter the fold next Wednesday. ALSO, I SHOULD have my first installment of a beginning adventure for the character I created. It hasn't even been started yet, BUT, I'm hoping to have at least some of it done by the weekend so I can find some art to go along with it.

See you guys soon.

A lot of good looking art guys. From what I've seen it looks as if people the likes of Kristine Kilayko and Erik Williams will be dueling it out for top prize.

I love the pencil art more, but all of them do look good.

Another comment. Oh yea, I'm on a roll.
I think the competition is great as I stated, people have some good talent roaming around here. After wandering through and checking them each out, I have compiled a list of my top 11 picks. Not in any particular order, of course. Why 11? Well, because, it's more than 10.

Vassalo, Micah Brown, Erik Williams, Robert Cameron, Simon Gough, Aiiwolf, Matt Zolman, Erik Dobransky, Adam Munoa, SHAMAN, Kristine Kilayko and an honorable mention for Jenny Bornen; I think that picture is freakin' great.

this competition was great, CBM should have more , - Batman vs Joker, Spiderman vs Sinister 6, Ironman, Punisher, Superman,.......... but i love the diversity and range of materials all the artists used. From traditional to digital. We were all given the same topic but each brought a different perspective, composition and intensity to the Art. My favourite is Micah Browns. Great Painting!

Well since this site is called "comic book movie", it would be a cool thing to have a competition everytime a new "comic book movie" comes out on dvd to win it preferably special editions :)) But until a movie comes out, there's just not that much to win really. Like if we had a Watchmen contest, what would we win? Tickets? T-shirts? Badly photoshopped posters? I think it's best to keep these contests when something cool comes out on dvd.

I agree with Shaman. Id wait till the DVD's been (or about to be) released before holding a contest. There's a lot of great ones this year! Watchmen, Wolverine, GIJoe, Transformers 2, KickAss... hope we see more contests in the future.

So IonParallax is still alive and good, wellcome back -Ion..( i wanted to say it since Ion was the first guy to welcome me to this site)

There are so good the fan art pieces, what i like most is like SK09 says(great job BTW), is how each one interprets his own vision.

This is from the Watchmen poster article but i think it comes fitty to what is being said:

SirJediFrank: "hey maybe not a "Fan Art" contest, maybe some "Fan Script" original story contest, thoug that would be odd to quantify.. perhaps limit it to a 500 words original story essay (but without a possible cast included, just the characters, Sorry Shaman!! :-]) lol "

hehe sorry Saman i had to write it again hehe.
.. i DO respect your authorithy alright? :-]
Shaman
Shaman - 1/30/2009, 12:01 PM
Well as long as you do. You're idea isn't a bad one except for the watchmen. There's only one story and that's how it will stay. As for Wolverine and Batman etc, not a bad idea at all.
SirJediFrank
SirJediFrank - 1/30/2009, 1:17 PM
Thanks. Well a good thing about Fan-Universe storylines and scripts is that it allows to expand a "real" scene or comicbook event, from what was seen and what "happened" after that scene or frame.. some stories are told in first person for example, what the character was thinking before or after an important event, etc.

The possibilities are infinite... to suck too, i admit. :-]

GREAT STUFF!!! Lots and lots of talent here. It does look like a lot of swiped stuff in there too (I see McFarlane's Hulk and the cover to Wolverine 55), but good all around!

I just submitted mine. Didn't find out about it until last night though so left out a lot of details (backgrounds) in order to meet the deadlines. This was fun! Hopefully they keep doing them!!

Literary contest sounds great! I have absolutely no gift in writing but im sure a lot of fans have great ideas RE their fave characters! What would be better is if there was a contest after the movie is shown and we get to write what should have happened (especially if the movie sucked).

I doubt the judges would love to read 3-5 pages worth of text from each entrant though. :)

JamesH: "What would be better is if there was a contest after the movie is shown and we get to write what should have happened (especially if the movie sucked)."

haha you are SO right!.. the sad thing is that the studios researchers and writers peole should read this kind of threads BEFORE they actually make a sucking movie,.. but i get you.

500 words could focus maybe more in a particular moment before or after a selected scene, to not to make it too long to read.. who knows? maybe one of these months we´ll get one contest of that kind.. would be cool.
JamesH
JamesH - 1/31/2009, 8:02 PM
Yeeep! 500 words on a particular moment on the whole movie would be great! Lets juz see what the site will offer in the future. :) But whatever it is, im sure the fans will jump on it!

I am so pissed. Not only did my entry not go through, but the original was destroyed. I worked hard on that picture!
Shaman
Shaman - 2/2/2009, 7:29 AM
Yeah, that sucks. It happened to me too earlier on. Apparently, it won't accept anything over 1.5 mb or somethin. Had to resizr it for them to recieve it.

JamesH - 2/3/2009, 4:48 AM
How'd your entry got destroyed Kyatollah? That really sucks especially when you already put a lot of time and effort on it.

Wow, I was looking at all the pictures, but that Micah Brown's picture really stood out...what really made it stand out to me personally among all the others, was that it actually looked like they really are in action and really are about to destroy eachother...also, it looks so real and the color is just great. He just really captured the image one would think of, if they imagined the Hulk and Wolverine fighting, it stands out~*
