Now since the incident on the Mandarin from last year's Iron Man 3, fans, critics, and cyber bullies have been arguing over the twist and for what controversal version of the character. Now after seeing the Marvel One Shot titled "All Hail the King", not only did we learn that not only Trevor isn't the Mandarin but best part, is that the Mandarin was never Aldrich Killian. It seems that Marvel has understood what the issue was with the treatment on the character in Iron Man 3 that caused the angry reaction from many desperate Marvel fans by ditching the ten magic rings but besides that, another good reason why is also that they didn't specifically have the terrorist cell known as the Ten Rings were never really in the film. The guys that were with Trevor in the footage that Killian fabricated onto many TV screens across the US were just actors pretending to be terrorists along with others who pretended to be people who were killed as well. So know we know that the Mandarin we saw in Iron Man 3 was only an invention made by extremis creator Aldrich Killian to hide himself from us government suspicion and he uses the terrorist organization's symbol to make them take the blame for his failed experiments therefore he frames them so that it helps him keep his activities conceiled.

Now that we have seen the one shot, we all know now that the Mandarin (his true Marvel Cinematic Version) is still out there waiting to reveal himself and that his organization is not only in Afghanistan but because the one who met up with Ivan Vanko at his home in Russia was Asian and the one who infiltrated Sea Gate prison known as Jackson Norris (one of Nighthawk's aliases) to capture Trevor Slattery and have the other terrorists help him break the actor out of jail and escort him to the Mandarin on how their leader will punish him for stealing his name which means there is now a slight chance that Kevin Feige and the rest of Marvel Studios will actually redo and reintroduce the villain as the actual leader of the Ten Rings and that they will be sure to provide him with 10 magic rings this time. Of course with Iron Man 4 being planned as a non comic based/James Bond-like film, the Mandarin cannot get his rings from an alien ship from in the comics and it cannot involve Fin Fang Foom. Instead the source of the Mandarin's rings will need to come from a different source of magic that will make the powers of those rings realistic enough to see in the MCU and luckily there is only one local source of magic available in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the powers in the Mandarin's rings to be based on without being:

Asgardian Magic

It may sound strange but with Kevin Feige planning to make the fourth film non comic based and with Thor and Iron Man in the same cinematic universe, the idea of borrowing asgardian magic and using it in support of the Mandarin's rings should be cool and acceptable, however, not only are they to project the exact same powers as shown from the comics but also what the symbols on each ring represent has to be vital and specific enough to reach the Marvel Cinematic Universe's level of meaningful point of views and there is only one Asgardian source specific enough for the rings to function as

Norn stones with the symbols of the nine realms and these are each realm symbol for each of the Mandarin's rings

Muspelheim

Muspelheim - Flame Blast

Midgard
Midgard - Disintegration Beam

Niffleheim
Niffleheim - Mento-Intensifier

Nidavellir
Nidavellir - Electroblast

Vanaheim
Vanaheim - Vortex Beam

Alfheim
Alfheim - Impact Beam

Svartalfheim
Svartalfheim- Black Light

Jotunheim
Jotunheim - Ice Blast

Asgard
Asgard - Overseer

and if the tenth ring was needed a symbol and if there is no major tenth realm, what would the tenth ring be specifically based off of?

The Convergence
The Convergence - Armor Morpher/Teleportation

I know it's awkward for the Mandarin's rings to be based off the nine realms but when it comes to wanting Iron Man 4 to be non comic based, that involves the origins of certain characters in that movie as well and simply by combining the Mandarin's rings and the nine norn stones of asgard plus one for the convergence, you get a unique set of magic rings that would help make the powers inside them look more realistic called the Norn Rings of Asgard. And if Marvel does reintroduce the Mandarin properly equipped with magic rings without using the chinese stereotypes, some aspects of the character's back story as well as the rings must be deviated and sacrificed in order to make it happen because those are one of the reasons Marvel Studios wouldn't do them in the third film/

And to prove it this picture of Baron Zemo firing a blast from the norn stone in his hand should help

vlcsnap-2014-02-08-08h59m22s92

So if anyone does want Mandarin reintroduced properly with ten magic rings in hand for Iron Man 4 while depicting him as the leader of the Ten Rings, be sure to inform Kevin Feige and the rest of Marvel Studios straight away while there is still time before production of the movie begins and if anyone asks, I'm just being smart this time.

Yeah, this is basically what everyone was saying before the twist was revealed online. And Feige isn't planning an Iron Man 4.

I honestly don't care at all about the Mandarin. Not in the comics, not in the cartoons, and not in the movie.

So.....

In a world that has already established multiple alien races, why would it all of a suddent be too outlandish for us to see an alien spaceship?

I'm not understanding that logic.

Still not sold there will be an Iron man 4, Tony's story is done and i think they should give other characters the spotlight now since Iron Man had it this past two phases, still having him a supporting actor/cameo in future movies would still be kool, but as for solo films I think the trilogy was enough.

Also, why would an alien ship be any less acceptable in a James Bond type thriller than Magic from another realm of existence?

Again, I'm not understanding that logic.

If they ever get around to the Mandarin's actual rings as a plot device, I doubt they will go Asgardian with it.

The only reason they made the Cosmic Cube an object from Thor's world, was because they didn't want to push to cosmic side of things too far, too soon. Thor was already stretching the boundaries of what the general audience was willing to accept as part of the MCU, so when the cosmic cube was introduced, it made complete sense to base it in an established mythology. Otherwise they would have run the risk of over-complicating a relatively young movie-verse.

By the time (and if) they introduce the real Mandarin, they will have covered earthly stories, cosmic stories, and magical stories. Sticking to the general background of the ten rings won't be nearly as much of a risk at that point. So I personally don't expect them to make the rings Asgardian in nature, nor do I really want them to.

I dont think Iron Man 4 will be done because there has not been an announcement and RDJ does not want to do solo Iron Man films. If Mandarin where to be used the villain would possibly have to be used in an Avengers film or a Thor or Dr Strange film which sounds bizarre. I think Mandarin should be left alone unless an Iron Man 4 film is green lit which i dont see happening.

@AnnoDomini - Personally, I'm sick of tech vs tech angle. It happened in IM1, IM2, and slightly in IM3. And come Avengers 2, we'll have Ultron as an enemy, which will carry on the same idea.

I'd much have rather have actual rings providing the Mandarin supernatural powers (only later to be revealed as alien technology, not actually anything supernatural). And since the marvel one-shot established the Mandarin as someone who has existed for hundreds of years, it would make sense that the terrorist cell would eventually name themselves after his source of power. And by the time Marvel gets around to IM4 (if ever), this would not feel out of place at all in the MCU.

@MightyZeus - It's likely we wont see an IM4 until Phase 4 or 5 at the earliest. But Marvel has stated that they do plan on recasting characters as necessary, in a similar fashion to 007.

So the MCU will remain intact, and we could have a new actor put his stamp on the Tony Stark name. Personally, I'd love to see Matt Bomer take the mantle, while continuing the story established in the previous MCU films.

I don't have a problem with the rings. My issue (and I continue arguing this to this day) is that they would've came off cartoony, especially in a fight. That's why the Mandarin twist worked for me. If the real Mandarin exists, fine. But, I don't want to see him in battle or use the rings. It would be ridiculous.

No Iron Man 4 for a while, just bring the character back for avengers and make Hulk's sequel with Iron Man in. Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey jr. in Incredible Hulk 2 would be awesome for.

I want to see another Iron Man film with the real Mandarin in but I don't think now is the time. Sure the third movie made 1.2 billion but that's also because of the post-Avengers effect. Let people miss the character the way they are missing another Hulk movie. Let the producers and writers have time to breath and take their time to crack another story on paper, or a few stories.
Re-introduce Iron Man in another triology with another actor because by the time they move forward with the next installament Downey might be a little over Stark'S age. I am thinking they could make another triology in the 2020s and hopefuly but unlikely the last iron man movie series for this Marvel Cinematic Universe until they reboot in 2060-70.

I wasn't sure about the powerful rings but after I saw iron man 3 with all those iron man suits flying around and attaching to stark body I don't think the rings will make the series any more fantastical. we also saw loki doing magic with his spear so it wont be a shock for the audience.

I really think instead of armor he should have an energy type shield/ barrier to protect him from projectile blasts/bullets ect. I love how the Mandarin's costume looks on its own. I'd really hate it to have that Armored Avenger type look.
