Here we have what could well be our first Iron Man 3 update since Shane Black was announced as taking over from John Favreau on directing duties.
A close Marvel source who doesn't want to be named has told Latino Review that it's 90% likely that Iron Man's next Avenger-less outing will be shot in the Port City of Wilmington, North Carolina. It's said to be a massive affair with Marvel taking over 10 sound stages at Screen Gems studios. Sets are likely being built now as production crews have been spotted over the past week. Once the sets are completed this upcoming May, shooting will commence until June.
Interesting. Gives any Wilmington locals plenty of time to prepare for some paparazzi action anyway. Like I said, aside from Black's involvement and some vague hints at the story being more grounded in "espionage thriller" territory, we don't know too much about
Iron Man 3. The Mandarin is expected/assumed to be the villain but if the plot is indeed to be more grounded in reality I would expect a more down to earth take on this mystical character too.
Iron Man 3 is set for release May 3 2013.
