Terrence Howard Now Also Blames Robert Downey Jr. For Being Cut From IRON MAN 2

Five years later, it seems that Terrence Howard still has a grudge about being replaced as War Machine in Iron Man 2, but he doesn't just blame Marvel - now it's the star of the franchise. Check it out!

While promoting The Best Man Holiday, which opens in theaters today, on Bravo TV last night alongside the beautiful Nia Long, actor Terrence Howard was asked once again about his departure from Marvel's Iron Man franchise. "Well, it turns out...and this is gonna get me in a lot of trouble," Howard started. "It turns out that the person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out." Without naming the highest-paid actor of 2013 (according to Forbes), it's obvious that Terrence Howard is referring to Robert Downey Jr. The actor continued, "We did a three picture deal. You did the deal ahead of time. A certain amount for the first one. For the second a certain amount. For the third…they came to me for the second one and said, 'We will pay you 1/8th of what we contractually had for you, because we think the second one will be successful with or without you.' And I called my friend who I helped get the first job and he didn't call me back for three months." When asked how are things now between he and Robert Downey Jr., Terrence deadpanned, "Oh, I love him. God's gonna bless him." What do you think?

I preferred Howard to Cheadle as War Machine.

I can't take a soft-spoken War Machine anyhow.
Oh well, good riddance.

ooooooo awkward

I'm actually torn between Howard and Cheadle.....neither played the character better in my opinion, happy with both. This still makes me cringe though...

It's not fair, but as others have said... Marvel was right. It was successful even without him. Interestingly, though, wasn't it rumored that Marvel was trying to be cheap with the Avengers group and RDJ stuck up for them? Doesn't sound like the same RDJ that supposedly took Howard's money.

Howard was better than Cheadle. Such a shame.

It would've been nice if they'd kept him around, but I can't say I disliked Cheadle.

Neither of them felt like comic Rhodey to me, but they still turned in fine performances.

Anyone who says Marvel is in the right is ignorant.

I feel bad for Howard. He is a FAR FAR better Rhodey than Cheadle.

He just has stronger chemistry with RDJ.

Oh and RDJ is no Iron Man. People like to claim that RDJ is Iron Man in real life and it's stories like this that make me hate the selfish bastard (which Iron Man is but the good always wins out in his need to help the world).

Sounds like something RDJ would do.

While I think Terrance Howard did a wonderful job I'm probably in the minority when I say I like Don Cheadle's take better.

I think it's important to note that Terrance Howard was the first person cast and earned $10 million off the initial film plus I'm sure he sees residuals.

And objectively Mr. Howard is telling a story from his perspective and that's all well and good but when someone says here's what the studio said so it's my co-worker's fault kinda seems off.

Terrence Howard cries too much, Both are great actors but Cheadle brings a more strong character

So wait first it was Marvel's greedy fault, now its RDJ's greedy fault for not sticking up for him.

It's hard to exactly feel sorry when the story keeps changing. Soon I'm sure he'll blame Favreau's fault for this somehow.

Waaaa....cry me a river. Be a professional and move on and get over it. Life isn't always fair, especially in Hollywood. Get a better agent in helping you sign contracts. I like Cheadle better anyway.

Howard was the better Rhodey, but Cheadle is the better actor. Both were real good in Crash.

I understand his beef. If what he says is true about his contract then Marvel shouldn't have came back trying to offer him less. A contract is a contract.

They [frick]ed him and every body knows it. They are so adamant about people fulfilling their contacts and they tried to [frick] him on his. The man has a right to speak up, but hey that's how business works, so I hope he isn't still salty over it.

I don't really have a preference between either actor.

@ Intruder

Agree but he did not bring up the subject a lowly fan did! But anyone would be a sore loser if you lose out on all that money and opportunity.

I mean look at his career now it is in the toilet!
