Thorbuster Creator Mike Grell Shares His Thoughts On It Showing Up In The MCU
It's unlikely that we will see the Thorbuster armor in this May's Iron Man 3, but in a recent retrospective about the creation of the Arsgardian powered suit, creator Mike Grell has shared his thoughts on how a live-action battle between a suited up Tony Stark and Thor would go down.
The battle between Iron Man and Thor ended in a stalemate in Marvel's The Avengers, although the God of Thunder clearly had the advantage. However, there's a certain suit of armor that would definitely mean that Tony Stark would be able to hold his own against the Son of Odin. A decade ago, the "Thorbuster" armor made its debut in the pages of Iron Man #64, and creator Mike Grell had this to say in a recent interview with MTV Splash Page. "Seems to me you're talking about the difference between technology and the power of the gods. Tony is a scientist and engineer who understands every aspect of the technological world. He'd probably think magic is just mumbo jumbo... until he saw it work for real. Then, even if he couldn't explain it, he'd have to admit it exists and would try to find a way to utilize it." In the comics, Tony was able to use this suit - which was powered by an Asgardian crystal - to stop Mjolnir from hitting him and redirect Thor's thunderous attacks. In the end, Thor ripped the suit of Tony (who made his escape in a regular suit of armor moments later). So, how does Grell think a similar battle would go down on the big screen? "Exactly the same. This is Hollywood. Thou shalt not break the formula." Be sure to click on the link below to read much, much more about the Thorbuster armor!
