From Academy Award®--winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes "John Carter"—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). "John Carter" is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

Starring Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, James Purefoy, Dominic West, Thomas Haden Church and Ciarán Hinds. John Carter is set to hit theatres on March 9!

I seriously think Disney's trying to effectively replace Star Wars anticipating the decline of Star Wars in feature film form.

They can do it too-! , especially with Marvel's cosmic character's available now!

Lucasfilms would deserve it too. They haven't given us anything fresh , just this re-hashed stuff which only resulted in making the original's worse!
Who cares about 1,2 &3.

He(Lucas) should have at least considered doing something new in feature film form. He's been working on this TV show for like 10 years now.

Disney, show Lucasfilms how it's done!
You have MY support!

I'm trying to spread the word about the film as much as I can. I really think everyone should give it a chance and see it in theatres. Star Wars, Avatar, all that was inspired by this story.

Great to see Dejah Thoris smiling. In the books, she's mostly sad and stoic and in peril, so it's really endearing to see cracks in her facade as she starts to fall in love with John Carter. Looks like her character in the movie will be played the same way. Can't wait!

I have posted this sentiment here before, but I really think Disney made a mistake by not mentioning the story's historical importance in the trailers. So much of modern sci-fi/fantasy owes a debt to A PRINCESS OF MARS and its sequels. I think there would be far fewer cries of "rip-off!" from people who only know STAR WARS and AVATAR.

NoAssemblyReqd: Yep, you are correct. They should have started marketing it in that way from the start.
