From Academy Award®--winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes "John Carter"—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). "John Carter" is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands. The screenplay was written by Andrew Stanton, Mark Andrews and Michael Chabon.

John Carter will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray June 5th.

I watched it 2 days ago with my wife and we both really enjoyed it. It's a real shame it didn't do better BO here in the US. I'm hoping that the blu-ray/dvd release will boost it's profits enough to encourage Disney to move forward with a sequel, because there's certainly plenty of story left to be told.

Disney are idiots to have such a hot leading lady in this film and not plaster her all over the place with every poster and trailer!

Worse marketed movie of all time!

Great F**king movie!

Finally got to see John Carter a few days ago. Absolutely loved it. I actually enjoyed it more than the Avengers. After seeing it I'm a bit bummed there will probably not be a sequel. It's definitely my favorite movie of the year thus far.

This is the best under-marketed movie of all time. I hope this gets a strong cult following because this was a great movie.
I know that I have expressed my opinions on this movie before, but I honestly believe that Disney meant for this movie to fail. Not sure if Avengers was the reasoning or a back room deal for the two Hollywood heavyweights that have profited the most from stealing ideas from Edgar Rice Burroughs, George Lucas and James Cameron.

I really love this movie. I want a sequel. Too bad it made so little money. Sadly enough it was one of the worst marketed movies ever. Hopefully the DVD will be popular. I'm buying it ASAP. :)

Fantastic movie sadly it was doomed the day Disney bought Marvel . They started working on this movie 4 years ago as a way to reach out to guys since the day they bought Marvel they did not seem to care about this movie anymore , they wanted it to fail . When ever have you heard a company making a movie say it is the biggest flop of all time just 2 weeks after it opened and write it off for 200 mil . Never . It will become one of the biggest cult classic movies of all time just watch .

Taylor Kitsch's acting and accent were just painful to watch, the rest was good though. If they had a stronger lead that could actually draw Box Office it might've been a different story.

I thought Kitsch's acting good in John Carter. And too say he ruined Gambit is retarded. it was the writing and the director of the worthless Wolverine solo movie. John Carter is epic and deserves to be seen. The marketing was bad tho. What pisses me off...is Disney (who I love btw) they used no marketing on a movie that needed it like John Carter...whereas they spend millions of marketing (soda cans, tombstone pizzas, etc)on The Avengers whic already had everybodys interest peeked thanks to the prelude solo films. And honestly...The Avengers wasnt all that great anyway. it was good but really it was just an Iron Man movie with a supporting cast of superheroes. the hype was built way to much for that film. But as for John Carter...It was an excellent movie and hope it gets the sequel it deserves.
