ManOfKrypton: Considering they haven't revealed that much when it comes to the story of the film (in trailers, spots), not really, no.

grif: But that's the thing, they really haven't showed much of the story. At least from what I have seen and what I know from the novel.

How is it boring?! Some of you are unbelievable.

The clip was pretty good, Kitsch is convincing, but he'll always be Tim Riggins for me :D

Cranston is unrecognizable with his blonde wig :D

Like the old school style, westerny, this will be damn good.

This is looking better, and better the more I see of it! My only question is how many times do you think they will say "John Carter". My only "complaint" will be if the movie beats us over the head with "His name is John Carter!"

SheldonCooper - 3/4/2012, 12:53 PM
@batlizard11, the box office has shown us recently that most of the time, even a well known actor doesn't necessarily mean big bucks at the box office for a movie.

@batlizard, we'll never know for JC, but it's obviously a parallel. But we don't know for sure. Only Burroughs knows, and well....... ^^

Gonna be a great character driven story.

Was a bit boring at first.

Then it got funny.

And I got excited before it- cut off.

It looks like a fun movie, I can't wait. The editing was a little awkward in one spot where Carter was captured. It was kind of edited like a cartoon there. Carter would hit the guy that captured him (big musical crescendo), then it would cut to them being peaceful (with no music), and the guy would continue his thought like nothing happened, Carter would act out again (musical crescendo), then they cut to them in a different scene (no music) and the guy finishes his thought. It was just a little awkward to watch in my opinion. But that is a minor nitpick in what appears to be a really fun time at the cinema.

Now this made me downright impatient to see it.

That clip gave me an Indiana Jones feeling; the adventure laced with comedy, with an undercurrent of seriousness. Good mix I say! I'll be first in line to see it when it releases!

@thespiderman209

Burroughs is a charater in the book too. The forwards in the first two books set the entire book as a manusript written by John Carter for his nameless nephew, assumed to be Burroughs, so he can tell the world of the exploits of John Carter on Barsoom. Kinda of a good hook to get you into the book too, I might add.

Couldn't resist watching it. Damn if I didn't feel like I was already in a theater watching this thing. And then it cuts off like a blue screen of death.

Great teaser and a heck of a way to explain some of the nagging questions the uninitiated have about this movie.

Definitely going to share this!

@YogiDonnie thanks I never knew that, I might have to go check out the book

Good musical scoring, decent period piece settings, good production values and costumes. Decent performances that signature each characters personality and good enough dialog. Nice cliffhanger ending to the clip being that I'm unfamiliar with the book(s). Que douchebag spoiler.

Looks solid enough for a release day viewing. If it was actually shot in 3D, it's a must-see for me regardless of the outcome. I'm sensing THOR meets STAR WARS. No one can deny the combination. No one! =p

dude this looks great!
and was that the kid from Spy Kids as Burroughs?

btw
anyone who will sink to comparing Joss Whedon, creator of hit science fiction/fantast character dramas to Michael Bay is just asking for trouble which is exactly what you are doing.

TDKR will be GREAT.
The Avengers will be GREAT.
what's with all the hate?
can't we all just get along?
lol
