From Academy Award®--winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes "John Carter"—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). "John Carter" is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

Starring Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, James Purefoy, Dominic West, Thomas Haden Church and Ciarán Hinds. John Carter is set to hit theatres on March 9!

I'm really interested in finding out how he gets to Mars, and how he's able to jump so high/far.

The books (at first) leave lots of things unexplained. How exactly JC gets to Mars (and back, and there again) is a big mystery, but we go with it because there's no time to slow down. John has to stay alive; he has no time to ask questions. I think the way that he gets thrust headfirst into this adventure is a big part of the story's appeal.

Only watched the Mars Best Friend clip. I love it! I remember that from the book. Some of the best moments in the book involved Woola, IMO. I'm psyched for this.

The CG looks fine. Plus, the overall feel of the film doesn't seem plastic. The effects here are light years better than Green Lantern.

@Ghostt. You actually want more clothes in the movie? I don't often hear that. ;)

Gotta love Woola! :) That clip with it, I think captures what was in the book pretty perfectly. Also, I'm interested to see more of Carter's early days on Barsoom - in A Princess of Mars, he spent days without talking with anyone before he learned their language, so I'm looking forward to how they will do it in the movie.

I remember reading a similar thing from the books about Woola and his speed, very funny. I already see some changes from the books but to see it will make it all the more fun. From what Stars Wars did for me in the 70's John Carter will do today. Stanton is on his way of being our new Lucas/ Speilberg director of today and I see an amazing future for him if this is a hit.
