Last month we reported about Jonah Hex losing its directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Well now word has come in via IGN, and it looks like Warner Bros hasn't lost any time in finding new prospects for the project.

This from IGN...

Director Lexi Alexander revealed today while doing press for her new film Punisher: War Zone that she's now being offered several different comic book films as her next project, specifically naming Warner Bros.' Jonah Hex as one of them. ...She's currently reading the script that Neveldine and Taylor wrote, and is most intrigued by the prospect of possibly working with Josh Brolin, who is attached to play the gunslinging title character. Praising his work in W. and No Country for Old Men, Alexander said she would definitely direct Jonah Hex should Brolin fully commit to the picture. She said that she wasn't keen on doing another comic book movie until the chance to possibly work with Brolin on Hex presented itself.

In the 70's comics version, Jonah Hex was a confederate officer turned bounty hunter whose face is terribly scarred.

Is anyone else worried that this is Lexi's first big movie (aside from the short film 'Green Street Hooligans'). Oh, and aside from that, her other big claim to fame was being Princess Kitana in the 'Mortal Kombat' travelling show! I don't think I have to wait to see the film, based on the trailers I have to say 'MAJOR SUCKAGE' - Now somebody please "FINISH HER!!"

OK, Ray Stevenson as Punisher, going to be kick-ass, PERIOD. Jonah Hex, NOBODY GIVES A DAMN ABOUT THIS GUY. Where the HELL are the DC character movies people actually WANT to see, Flash, GL, a GOOD Supes movie. I would prefer to see Mr Mxylpltk in a Superman movie than see Jonah hex in his own flick...

Actually i'd pay 100$ to watch the looney toones as the justice league on an I-max screen before i'd even concider accepting to pick up a "blu-ray" dvd special edition of a Jonah Hex movie that someone would have politely put in their trash can that just happens to be on my way home.

I don't think that the comic book has to be that good to make a good movie. 300 was really an average comic that Zach Snyder adapted into a great flick. I think this movie would have great potential with a great actor and director. Josh Brolin is that actor and the director....I wouldn't place any bets. But who knows, we'll see. I don't really care what comics are being adapted to film, the more the merrier.

What has Brolin given us to make us remotely think that he as an actor could make this boring character into a great film? No Country for Old Men is over rated.

Seriously, who is a Jonah hex fan? A true fan, followed him from inception (or as early as possible) until now? I mean, ok the guy is angry cool, like Jigsaw/Punisher, but we already have that movie. It's called Punisher: War Zone. AND it's modern...Jonah Hex can go to hell. Bring me Hal Jordan and John Stewart in my GL movie and movie on to more interesting badass characters.

I'm a fan of Sharon Stone in "Quick and the Dead" but other than that, it doen't matter if it's out a comic book or not, westerns aren't my bag'a froot loops... know wa'im sayin'?

Ya, I'd never even heard about Jonah Hex until this site posted about the movie. But, as far as westerns go, the new 3:10 Yuma was great(Ben Foster owns) and with a comic book twist I think it would be really cool.

And ya, No Country For Old Men: Overrated as hell. I liked it until the end. I thought it was going to lead to this amazing conflict between the two main characters and when it finally happens, it doesn't even let you see it! The guys just dead. Pissed me off. Royally.

3:10 to Yuma was a good flick (both times) I've known about Jonah Hex for a long time, he's actually the first person to come to mind when someone mentions a western comic book character because I seem to forget, or go blank, about Vigilante, The (original) Ghost Rider (Phantom Rider now), and about 30 other western style characters who nobody really gives 2 shytes about...

And what is it with LEXI huh? Why is she always ready to jump on some bullshit projects? I mean, punisher looks "decent" but it's not blowing my skirt up if you know what i'm sayin'! I mean to finally have a woman(equal rights and all) to helm comicbook movies, it would be cool for her to push further for bigger and better projects. Now all she's giving us is her cute face and the want to see her on "SuperHeroHotties" and that's just wrong. She should "represent" like Danika Patrick or somethin'.

Dude, it's too bad you can't see that Punisher clip. The violence level in that mere 20 seconds or so is RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME!
