DC LEAGUE OF SUPER-PETS Adds JOKER Star Marc Maron As The Villainous Lex Luthor

Marc Maron made his DC Extended Universe debut in 2019's Joker, but he's now set to return to that comic book world for DC League of Super-Pets as classic Superman villain, Lex Luthor. Check it out...

Marc Maron has never shied away from making his thoughts known about superhero movies, and despite starring in Joker, he definitely doesn't appear to be the biggest fan of the genre. That's fair enough, but the comedian and actor has now confirmed that he will lend his voice to Lex Luthor in the upcoming animated movie, DC League of Super-Pets

Something about the project has clearly appealed to him. Plus, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson voicing Krypto and an all-star cast that includes Keanu Reeves, John Krasinski, Keven Hart, Kate McKinnon, Natasha Lyonne, and Diego Luna, it's fair to say that he's in good company!

Very little is known about DC League of Super-Pets beyond that, though we do know that Jared Stern penned the screenplay and is co-directing with Sam Levine.

A release date has been set for May 20, 2022, and while there's still no sign of a trailer, it has been confirmed by Warner Bros. that "new content" from the movie will be revealed at DC FanDome. This movie is almost certainly going to be primarily aimed at a younger audience, but that doesn't mean longtime DC Comics fans won't be able to have fun with it, and we're excited to see more.

As for Maron, it's easy to imagine him doing a great job with Luthor (likely putting a comedic spin on the iconic Superman villain). Whether he'll have a "Super-Pet" of his own remains to be seen!

Talking of Lex Luthor, check out what Jesse Eisenberg recently told us about possibly reprising that role in the DC Extended Universe in the player below:

Within a year of its release he and Bill Maher will be shitting on the genre again.

Although he should play Stan Lee in a biopic.

This is for sure something for the kids, hopefully it does well, maybe DC will have another go for theatrically released serious animation. (If only Mask Of The Phantasm had been advertised properly)

Green Lantern The Animated Series showed the Bruce Timm style works in 3D animation (Mask of The Phantasm was almost 3D), maybe do a 3D animated Batman The Animated Series movie.

When is DC/WB finally going to stop to recycle their actors?

Marc Maron made his DC Extended Universe debut in 2019's Joker?

1. 2019's Joker is not set in the DCEU

2. Marc's not a fan of comic book films and yet he said yes to this? He should've turned it down and kept it moving.

I don't want actors who've slandered comic book movies, to appear in comic book movies! Or voice roles in them.

He's playing Luthor & not Ignatius his pet iguana? I thought this was going to be a pet only affair.
