Matt Bomer On Whether He'd Play A Live-Action Superhero After Missing Out On SUPERMAN FLYBY - EXCLUSIVE

In our exclusive interview, Matt Bomer (Justice Society: World War II) tells us whether a superhero movie role has ever come his way since he nearly played the Man of Steel in J.J. Abrams' Superman Flyby.

Justice Society: World War II arrives on streaming platforms on April 27th, 2021, and hits 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray on May 11th, 2021. This next entry in the DC Animated Universe sees The Flash thrust into the midst of an epic battle between Golden Age DC Super Heroes the Justice Society and Nazis for an adventure which definitely doesn't play out the way you might be expecting.

Matt Bomer voices The Flash in this exciting animated feature, and will be familiar to many of you for his incredible work in Doom Patrol as Negative Man. However, while he's hidden beneath bandages in that series, one look at the actor will confirm that he looks every bit the superhero.

That would explain why he was once the frontrunner for J.J. Abrams and Brett Ratner's Superman Flyby, but has a comic book movie role come Matt's way since? After pointing out how much superhero fans love the actor, we asked how open he'd be to starring in a Marvel or DC film.

"Aww. You know, it’s been a minute. I think the last thing I probably tested for was a Wolverine or something back in the day. It’s been a while, but if the right one were to come around, absolutely," he revealed. "I’d be there in a heartbeat. I love these characters. I think they’re iconic, and they’ve lasted as long as they have for a reason. As long as we have light and dark as a society, we’ll need superheroes to look to for inspiration. I think one of the great and rewarding challenges as an actor is finding ways to ground them and make them, well, human if they are human, but make them relatable and real. If that opportunity were to come my way, and it was a nice role, then absolutely. "

Despite being busy with Doom Patrol, we'd love to see this happen, as there are plenty of characters Bomer would be a perfect fit for. For starters, he'd still make an awesome Superman, though characters like Adam Warlock, Sentry, and Hal Jordan also come to mind as being exciting, intriguing possibilities.

We'll have to wait and see, but it's clear from Matt's comments that he just gets superheroes.

I'd pay good money to see Bomer as Superman. He's got the look for it.

@dracula - He still looks great for his age and looks like Henry Cavill. If they did a Project Cadmus storyline he would make a great Connor Kent. Or Bizarro.

@SonOfAGif - why wouldn't they just get henry Cavill for bizarro?

He still has the perfect look for Superman

Dude looks like a real life comic book character drawing. Even though I'm still pushing for Cavill, I wouldn't mind if he played Supes (he already voiced him). Dude is 43 already though, and although he doesn't look it, that might be pushing it.

Could see him as Superman, but he is already Negative Man.

I have been saying this for a hot minute that he would be perfect if they had to recast Cavill. He also has better screen presence than Cavill and more charisma in my opinion.

Funny thing is Brendan Fraiser was also considered for Superman at one point. That would have been terrible
