Most of the DC films since
Man of Steel bear Hans Zimmer's mark as composer. When Hans decided to move on to other projects, Junkie XL was hired as the sole composer for
Justice League. Unfortunately, after a personal tragedy, Director Zack Snyder was unable to complete post-production on the film. Shortly after that, Joss Whedon, his replacement, chose not to use Junkie XL's work on the project. Joss then hired Danny Elfman at short notice to provide a score that was more in line with his take on the characters.
In this video from DC, Danny Elfman articulates the thought process behind why he chose to re-introduce certain classic themes while retaining some of Hans Zimmer's work.
