Will JUSTICE LEAGUE's Zack Snyder Return To The DC Extended Universe? The Filmmaker Reveals What's Next

Zack Snyder has made it clear that he's finished with Justice League but could we see the filmmaker return to the DC Extended Universe? He's now made it clear what his current plans are for the future...

While Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may have been met with a mixed/negative response from critics, both performed well at the box office and Zack Snyder's love of the DC Universe has always been apparent. So, does his future lie with the DC Extended Universe?

It seems not. A recent piece on the filmmaker over at Wired reveals that Snyder plans on teaching a film basics course at his alma mater, ArtCenter College of Design. Before that, however, he intends on completing his next movie The Last Photograph. As of right now, the director is working on the script for the movie/preparing to shoot it and that's going to take up his time for the foreseeable future.

Beyond that, the site notes that he's going to serve as executive producer on a number of upcoming DC Films but is also working on the script for his planned adaptation of Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead

It's worth noting that Stan Lee is an executive producer on the Marvel movies and has no creative involvement in them whatsoever so the signs are all pointing to Snyder moving on from the DC Extended Universe. That leaves the status of both Man of Steel 2 and Justice League 2 up in the air but it appears as if Warner Bros. will seek new
fillmakers to helm those if and when they actually happen.

How do you guys feel about Snyder no longer working on DC Comics movies? Sound off below.

"Snyder plans on teaching a film basics course "

I really dig some of this work, but he fails at the basics of movies. I think he would be better suited for an advanced framing or action class.

3 movies for a universe is big...he cant direct everything

@RasAlGhul - he can't direct everything, so he picked the most critical films he could imagine in DC universe before anyone could do it the right way. If you're only going to do 3 movies, make sure they aren't going to complicate the DCEU for anyone who tries to finish what you started. Otherwise they have to work around everything you did and that's what joss whedon has to do now.

@Argetlam22 - it is possible that people do not realize how stupid their opinion might sound

@GilGalad - To you, maybe. But is just an opinion. One could argue that if Nolan's movies were to set up a DC shared universe of films, that he really would have made it difficult for future directors because he seemingly killed Batman and set up a weird Robin situation.

My point is, many would argue that Nolan created a fine trilogy, but in a number of ways he would have painted future directors into a bit of a corner. It can be argued that in a number of ways, Snyder has made it a bit difficult for future directors to go in any direction except the one he has envisioned. There is a lot they now have to explain away if they want to do other things that might be different.

@TomSolo - are the most creative people in the world of cinema, they are artists, they also make a living doing what they love, do not know how can be a problem, work to create these universes, regardless of where they take it or where they should start.

@TomSolo - that is why they are now doing flashpoint in case justice League falls through, so they can retcon and still save face while changing major plot details and character arcs from previous films. It's always nice to have a time traveler handy...look at Bryan singer and how he negated the original x-men trilogy.

@GilGalad - I mean no offense, but I am not sure what you are saying. It seems like you are missing a bunch of words.

@Argetlam22 - And that's fine. I feel like Snyder maybe tried to put his own twist on what he knew was going to be a shared universe and also tried to put too much in the film. Maybe not all his fault, but in the end, it leaves future directors to have to deal with a Batman that has very clear visions of the future somehow, among other lesser issues.

If Snyder was set to do a Superman or Justice League set of movies, all his own and not part of a shared universe, I would not have a problem with him doing things his way. But the fact that he had to had known, at least by BvS, that WB wanted to start a huge universe, well, he could have been a bit more considerate to future directors.

But that is just my opinion.

Oh, and please don't come back. You did your comic thing. Now go make some slick action movie that doesnt involve iconic characters. Maybe then we can forgive you.
