JUSTICE LEAGUE Cinematographer Says Only 10% Of What Zack Snyder Shot Ended Up In The Theatrical Cut

The #ReleaseTheSnyderCut reveals keep on coming and now Justice League cinematographer Fabian Wagner has claimed that only 10% of what he and director Zack Snyder shot ended up in Joss Whedon's version...

Earlier this week, Justice League director Zack Snyder made it clear that the "Snyder Cut" is a very real thing and a whopping 214 minutes long. However, there are still no plans (that we know of) for Warner Bros. to release that either in theaters, on Blu-ray, or the HBO Max streaming service.

Over the summer, original cinematographer Fabian Wagner said that watching Joss Whedon's version of Justice League made him weep and he's no followed up on those comments by saying during a recent Q&A that, "If there is a Snyder cut, I hope it’s better than the one that is out now."

"A lot was changed," he added. "It looked very different." Watching Whedon's Justice League was, in fact, such a painful experience that the cinematographer admitted that he couldn't figure out what those reshoots changed altogether but claims that 90% of Snyder's work ended up being scrapped.

"I did principal photography for Zack. We finished shooting and he started editing," Wagner said. "We did the color grading for the trailers. So the first three trailers were all things we shot. Then they started reshoots. I wasn’t there. It was a completely different team. They reshot 55 days, I think. The movie that was in cinemas was 10 percent of what we shot. Everything else is a reshoot."

If that's anywhere close to being accurate, then Snyder's Justice League was clearly even more different to the theatrical cut than we realised. With any luck, we will get to see the "Snyder Cut" sooner rather than later but, as of right now, we're all forced to just wait and see what happens.

Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam that door
I don't care what they're going to say
Let the fan rage on
The Snyder cut never bothered me anyway

I like how they went from "Whedon only did like 10%" before the release and now he's responsible for 90%.

@Reeds2Much - It was obvious that lots of stuff in the theatrical cut were Whedon reshoots.

@Reeds2Much - I gotta say, I was one of those who downplayed just how much Joss' involvement would be when it was revealed that he was doing reshoots. Boy oh boy was I wrong.

@Reeds2Much - technically he says the theatrical cut is 10% lol since the Snyder cut is almost twice as long they cut 35% which accounted for an hour half cut of that 90 right there so he’s basically implying whedon filmed roughly 55%. Seeing as he was giving a rough estimate I’d say a lot was cut and whedon filled in blanks as best as he could. But I still believe that to it’s core still Snyder’s film just edited shorter with jokes

10%? Seems like an over embellishment. The reshoots lasted 2 months. No way you could film 90% of a superhero movie in that time. Hell, the original principal photography lasted 6 months.

"Everything else is a reshoot"

You and Zack can keep telling yourself that to make yourselves feel better instead of accepting that hey, maybe you just made a shitty movie (again) and perhaps that's why it was reshot in the first place.

At this point I'm under the impression that they don't actually want the cut to be released to the public. They'll keep telling us how amazing and revolutionary it was... and that's it.

They're just feeding off this campaign that their diehard fans started as a saving grace. They can't accept what they did, and what happened.

@Kurne -

@Roodi - All the Whedon parts looked like shit.

And I like Whedon since the Buffy days and I don't blame him for the JL disaster, but his reshoots looked awful (not enough time and money) and Snyder's stuff would have looked great even if the story had not been good (which I don't know, there are things I like and things I hate in both MoS and BvS, but those at least looked and sounded good thanks to Team Snyder and Zimmer).

@SethBullock - Did you see some of the earlier trailers prior to the reshoots? It looked like BVS in how ugly and bland it appeared. The final cut wasn't much better (the VFX and production design were drab and poor looking), but at least Whedon knew that a Justice League flick needed color and tried to do the best he could with what he had.
