Zack Snyder Under Fire For Quoting Mussolini While Promoting JUSTICE LEAGUE Digital Release

It's been a rough week for Zack Snyder, but the divisive filmmaker is doing himself no favors by quoting Benito Mussolini in an effort to promote the digital release of his cut of Justice League.

Earlier this week, Rolling Stone shared a damning piece on the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut Movement and the role director Zack Snyder may have played in organizing and/or encouraging his supporters to engage in toxic online behaviour.

The filmmaker disputed the findings, but his response its publication has not exactly endeared him to his detractors.

Snyder took to Vero to promote the digital release of his director's cut of Justice League shortly after the report went live, and included part of the following quote from Benito Mussolini: "If I advance; follow me. If I retreat; kill me. If I die; avenge me! It is better to live one day as a lion than one-hundred years as a sheep!"

Snyder's post has inevitably come under fire on social media, and while it's entirely possible that he wasn't fully aware of the source of the quote he used, many seem to feel this was a deliberate attempt to stir up more controversy and rally his followers.

Either way, when you've been accused of encouraging your fervent/militant supporters to launch a hate campaign, quoting a notorious fascist dictator probably isn't the best idea.

Cyborg actor Ray Fisher was also dragged into Rolling Stone's report, and responded by claiming it was nothing more than a "contrived hit piece." Fisher has now followed-up by denying that his team was contacted with sufficient time to issue a response.

What do you guys make of this? Are people overreacting to Snyder's social media post? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section.

@TheVengeance - CBMs are all children's movies of generally the same quality, but if I had to pick a camp I wouldn't side with the fascist propaganda spouting misogynists... Bad look

@UncleHarm1 - yes, Snyder is such a misogynist. That's why he included a strong female character in the form of wonder woman to be included in a film titled batman v superman.

@RevanIsMyMan - why? The meaning of the quote has nothing to do with the overall views of mussolini. It's basically saying "keep going and don't give up".

Heh, that's nothing really...
People here in Italy quote that all the time all the while hating that f*cker.

Shit, look what Hitler did with the Hindu swastika.

Doesn't mean jackshit.

@Doomsday8888 - True. Hitler took a symbol that had a different meaning historically and turned it into something "racist".

The point is, if you walked down the street wearing a shirt with a swastika today, you would at least get some dirty looks, if not attacked, or even arrested in certain countries like Germany itself.
