KICK-ASS Actress Chloe Grace Moretz Has No Intention Of Reprising The Role Of Hit-Girl

We recently found out that Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn has big plans for the characters first introduced in the pages of Mark Millar's comic series, but Chloe Grace Moretz wants no part of them...

It was recently revealed that Matthew Vaughn was in the process of setting up a new studio and was planning planning a new Kick-Ass movie, along with a solo Hit-Girl outing which would either focus on an older Mindy Macready, or flashback to her younger years growing up under the tutelage of Big Daddy.

Vaughn didn't specify if he intended to recast Hit-Girl or not, but if he was thinking about getting Chloe Grace Moretz back on board to play the character, he's out of luck.

While speaking at the Provincetown Film Festival (via Indiewire), the Suspiria actress said she had no interest in returning to the role after how the critically panned Kick-Ass sequel "was handled."

“I love the franchise, I think the first movie was really, really special. I wish the second one had been handled in a little bit of a different way. Because I think we were all kind of looking forward to something a little different than what happened with it all. As much as I love the character of Hit-Girl, I think she lives and survives in Kick-Ass, and I kind of want to keep her there.“I kinda wanna keep everyone’s mind in Kick-Ass. So I don’t think there will be a Kick-Ass 3, at least I don’t think with Hit-Girl in it.”

While this new Kick-Ass movie will most likely be a soft reboot with Patience Lee under the mask, if Vaughn does decide to go with an older take on Mindy for the Hit-Girl spinoff then it's a shame Chloe won't be a part of it.

Then again, she may feel differently once the wheels are in motion and there's a script.

What do you guys think? Any interest in a Hit-Girl movie without Moretz?

@noahthegrand - Millie Bobby Brown seems kind of obvious, but a REALLY good choice.

I think the first movie was wildly overrated, though still occasionally enjoyable. They kept reiterating the fact before its release that they were just normal people suiting up to fight, but one of the first things to happen is Kick-Ass is reinforced like Wolverine along his bones. And the foul-mouthed little girl shtick just felt to me like it was trying too hard. Nic Cage was still hysterical and Mark Strong is always good. And even if its not the better movie I preferred the second one.

Could she even continue at her age? I know she still looks really young, but she still looks like a young adult!

Mark Millar stuff gets old fast. He can't write and compensates with shock. Old Man Logan, Civil War and his Kick-Ass follow-ups are garbage.

Also, Chloe doesn't have a career anymore. She'd be lucky to do a sequel.

@TheGambitFreak - Mark Millar is the definition of good concepts, bad execution.

Look at Captain America Civil War and Logan compared to Civil War and Old Man Logan

Civil War comic started with the death of some kids school because of a superhero battle as an attempt to make the comic serious which just sounds funny as shit.

Old Man Logan has Bruce Banner [frick]ing his cousin and creating an incest redneck Hulk gang that loves inbreeding each other.

He can come up with an interesting concept with those comics and Kick-Ass and Red Son Superman and other stuff. Hell even Nemesis has an interesting concept but the stories are usually shit and people like them only for the concept.

The only good stories he's written are Marvel Knight's Spider-Man and the 22 Stories In A Single Bound Superman comic.

Yes to a HIT-GIRL solo movie

No to another Kick-Ass movie

If you want a lot of fans to see it...this would and should be the #1 choice for the new Hitgirl.

Kick-Ass was kick-ass. It will always exist on its own as one of those unforgettable experiences for me. And it was all because of Hit-Girl. But, if they want to reboot the universe with more comic-accurate versions of these characters and want to recast them, I'm for seeing what they can come up with.
