Tom Hanks is an icon, and an actor who clearly chooses his projects with great care. Given the impressive track record of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is a little surprising that we haven't seen him star in a Marvel Studios movie, and the blame seemingly lies at the feet of MCU mastermind Kevin Feige!
During a recent interview on the SmartLess podcast, the Oscar-winning Finch star revealed that he's never been contacted by the studio for a role in the comic book movie franchise.
"Here's the problem. First of all, they've never called me once. Never," Hanks confirmed. "And I think one of these days, they will and they'll say 'Is there any way you would consider playing the secretary of defence?' A guy who comes to 'help us all from man!'"
Hanks' incredible career is showing no signs of slowing down, so it's definitely possible we could one day see him in the MCU. That would be a huge casting win for Marvel Studios, though it is a little hard to pin down who he'd be best suited to play in this shared world. There are lots of exciting possibilities, anyway, especially with reboots of the X-Men and Fantastic Four on the way.
With Eternals fresh in our minds, we're going to suggest Thanos and Starfox's father, A'Lars!
Who do you think Hanks could star as in the MCU?
