ASK A GEEK: A Question about Clothing

ASK A GEEK: A Question about Clothing

In a new ongoing feature at CBM, we will be posting reader questions (that only geeks would know) and either answering them, or giving users the floor to answer them in the comments. Here was one that stumped me today. If any of you know it, feel free to answer.

This from Dennis...

In Smallville season 10 - episode: Luthor, Lionel Luthor (John Glover) was wearing a sweet dark grey suit. I need to get me one of those. Can anybody tell me who it was made by?

I'm assuming he's talking about this one...

I have no clue who its made by, does anyone in out there in the Geekiverse know? Let's try and help Dennis out. Comment below...

Just go into your local Men's fashion store and look on the bloody wall... besides what he's wearing most of us couldn't afford anyways. And yes, Smallville killed Superman. Bring it back Snyder and Cavill. Black costume all the way.

Try Ralph Lauren Purple Label, it doesn't have the same fit as a Black Label. I don't think it's RL but it does seem to have the same fit. Maybe a Brioni suit.

Doesn't it say in the credits? Usually companies don't let that go by without some sort of recognition.

A true geek would never ask what kind of designer suit an actor is wearing. ;-)

what? I wish some geeks would take some time with their appearance instead of looking like the mole people. I like this feature. Being a geek doesn't mean u should dress like a slob.

Men's Warehouse. You're gonna like the way you look. I guarantee it.

i agree with Reo5150. usually the credits say who the wardrobe was provided by. i would check there first.

Looks like pin stripes and this is the closest Armani suit.

Pair with a dark shirt and you should be good to go.

It's a suit people, try a clothes store.

Nice idea here big G. Get a little tooing and frowing going between us old cats and the new breed. Do we just email you a question with an "ask a geek" header if we have one then? Not that I do, but if I did...

MsK beat me to it! My best guess would be Hugo Boss.
I appear to be in the minority of people who like the idea of Ask A Geek. I say keep it up, Nommer of Worlds.

Lol I agree with ^^ and Ron and Selina Kyle.

I would also check out places like Dillards, Belks, Sears. They have a lot of clothes like that too.

You may be right CBM! Though I can't think of anything off hand, I do know if I ever have a question I usually consult Google :D
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 3/15/2011, 12:26 PM
Don't get me wrong. I think this is a nice idea. I think the fashion question is slightly strange as the first question to pose thought as it isn't a question a typical geek would care to even ask about. :-P

Haha! Yes it is! But I'll support this new idea, why the hell not? I always enjoy a new spin.

Decent idea for a feature. There is enough stuff that people want to know and don't really know where to begin searching for the answers.

Asking about any clothing from Smallville would probably be best answered by TV Guide, who seems to be interested in that kind of thing.

Just one piece of advice if you need to buy a suit: DON'T go to Men's Wearhouse! They hard-sell the hell out of you, and they're overpriced. You can find a good-looking suit at JC Penney without breaking the bank.
Destroyer14
Destroyer14 - 3/15/2011, 2:18 PM
Interesting new feature. Hmm. Maybe I'll think of a question.
Spock
Spock - 3/15/2011, 2:23 PM
The best way to find out where the suit comes from is by trying to get in touch with wardrobe coordinate of the set! But good luck with that!

I've always had good luck with separates at Penney. You can get away with some pretty nice stuff for under $250.
