CBM 101: Image & iFrame Trouble

Here's a quick tutorial/video to help with a couple of issues that users are having with the new "Content" field editor for article creation.

Hopefully this little video tutorial I put together will help users with the new content field WYSIWYG editor I rolled up last week.  Give me a holler if you have any questions, comments or feedback!

Can we get a comment voting system up on here? Something like Disqus?

I'm a Web designer, I know there has been some backlash with the new system, but the new WYSIWYG editor is definitely the best way to go for a site like this...especially if you're a novice at html...will take time for some to get used to, but it will be better in the long run...

Sweet, thanks Nate! This was really helpful! I'm in the middle of writing an article now and the new system is certainly much easier to use than the old one. Just takes some getting used to.

As for a new comment voting system, I kind of disagree with changing the comments. It gives this site a type of personality, IMO. Rather than having people just say whatever popular thing in order to get the most votes (and refraining from saying other things that would be downvoted to oblivion), the system we have now just encourages users to put their opinions down, no matter how controversial, and people can reply to it if they like. I think it's great the way it is.

@SauronsBANE1 Well people would be able to choose whether they want to see comments with oldest on top or in order of how many likes. I just hate going into in article for a movie I'm excited about and the first comment says "Shit movie." I also wish there was an easier way to tell if someone replied to your comment rather than having to search through the comments to see your name.

@ guardianangel

I second that option that you would be able to see who responded to your comments or if your username was mentionned in one that would actually be friend

maybe adding this as a functionality in the friends column on the right side of our screens

Just throwing this out there

@GuardianAngel, That's certainly true. But my issue is that it completely changes the "personality" of the site, IMO. Sites like AintItCool changed their comment system from something similar to how it is now on CBM to Disqus, and it just was never the same. People only wrote comments that would guarantee maximum upvotes (because people crave getting fake internet points, I guess?) while unpopular opinions (even if they weren't trolling, just being honest) got downvoted to hell.

Sure, people can just sort Disqus into "newest first" or "oldest first", but most people stick with the "best first" option, meaning a ton of comments get swallowed up and forgotten about. At least here, if you post an interesting comment, you have an equal chance of having people see it and respond.

It IS tedious to have to look through the comments to see if anyone replies to you, but that kind of rewards users who stick with an article, IMO. It encourages users to get involved and respond to other users.

I'd definitely be in favor of just adding a function that shows any replies you get as a notification, as long as the gist of the comment system stays the way it is. Just my two cents!

I agree with Sauron about the comment-voting. I can't see anything good comin' out of it in the long run. That's just me, though.

Ignore me.

I'd rather we have a refresh button for the commenting system, which would automatically take you to the last post, so we don't have to refresh the page, got to the last comment section comment, then refresh the page again lol
