John Arturo - When did you start collecting and how did you get into the hobby?

jakee1921 - I got into collecting comic books when I was in the 4th grade. I was on a family vacation and we were in a supermarket and I saw the comic rack and got my first comic book that day. It was Uncanny X-Men issue #395 the Poptopia story arc.

John Arturo - Wow! You have a nice collection of trades. Do you primarily focus on trades or do you do single issues as well?

jakee1921 - I have shoe boxes over flowing with single issues, I just find trades easier to read and focus on because the whole story is right there. But I do love collecting single issues as well. They all have a lot value to me.

John Arturo - Do you collect anything else?

jakee1921 - I did collect things like Yu-Gi-Oh cards and action figures when I was a kid but now I love collecting movies and comic books.

John Arturo - What is your favorite collectibles company?

jakee1921 - I'd have to say anything Sideshow makes or anything DC Direct makes. Those companies do incredible work all the time.

John Arturo - What is your favorite part of collecting?

jakee1921 - I just love the characters. Seeing where they go, what missions are next, who dies? Who lives? It's always been a passion of mine to read and take care of every comic book I have.

John Arturo - What is the key thing you look for in an item you want to add to your collection?

jakee1921 - Artwork. I love a book with good artwork. Don't get me wrong it has to be a good writer more than artwork but I just love filling my collection with amazing pieces of art. Frances Manapul is one of my favorites along with Skottie Young and Jim Lee.

John Arturo - What is your favorite movie?

jakee1921 - I would have to say The Dark Knight. For me that movie was the best rendition of a comic book character I've seen since Reeve was Superman. I love comic book movies, sci-fi, and horror movies.

John Arturo - What is your favorite piece from your collection?

jakee1921 - Thats a really hard question but i would probably have to say my Blackest Night collection along with the Flash/Legion/Power Rings. It was such a groundbreaking story. To me, one of the best stories since The Death of Superman and Flash Rebirth.

John Arturo - What are some items you are most looking forward to adding to your collection?

jakee1921 - Anything by Robert Kirkman. I would love to add some busts and statues to my collection along with some props and of course more and more comics. Im very impressed with the DC reboot so far so I can not wait to continue collecting the new stories.

John Arturo - Finally, what is your favorite aspect of ComicBookMovie.com?

jakee1921 - Everything I need to know about CBMs are right there. The first site with the best news. Also I really like the freedom of the Fan Fic section. I've done a few fancasts and I had a lot of fun doing them.

Your Help Needed

I am getting very low on collections, so if you have a collection you have been waiting to send over and haven't please do so. I have one more left for next week and that is all. Thanks

If you want to know more about collecting statues/high end items, or just want to see what kind of interesting collectibles are out there, visit my statue devoted site Lethal Farce.

If you have a collection (don't worry about the size, it could be 4-5 items and that is still a collection right?) and want me to showcase it on the site, then shoot me an email by clicking the "Contact Me" link here. I will shoot you a few questions to answer to go along with the images and once a week we will showcase a users collection on here.

@ gamerguy753

everybody's collection starts off small, keep at it a year down the road it'll be nice collection.

don't buy books for the sake of it,i remember in the 90s collecting every x-title,spidey title, avengers title, hulk, fantastic four, ghost rider, new warriors & thats not even including stuff by dc,image & dark horse.

i buy about 15 marvel titles & 2 dc nowadays, just costs too much money.
