Clash Of The Titans News

Okay so i know its not strictly a comicbook movie! But hey, neither is Terminator! Anyway, heres some news on The Clash Of The Titans remake...

I know i cant be alone in my love for the 1981 version of Clash Of The Titans! It was the first movie featuring fantasy creatures that i ever remember seeing and Ray Harryhausens amazing stop motion special effects started my life long love for Sci Fi and Fantasy.

So i wasnt sure how to take the news of a remake. I mean the movie is by no means a classic..just to me! So maybe Louis Lettiers upcoming version will actually be an improvement. Hes certainly off to a good start having nabbed Sam Worthington(the guy thats been cast in every blockbuster from now to rapture despite having never been seen on the big screen!) as his leading man Perseus and the latest news is that the lovely Gemma Arterton will also star as Lo..a character that did not appear in the original movie, so the main female role of Andromeda is yet to be cast.

Arterton has previously appeared in a small role in the largely underwhelming Quantum Of Solace..and she looks like this:

Bring it on Louis!

Ohh I hope they don't screw it up. I love this movie. Even if it is out of date. That broad is hot though!

Nice article brudda.

I'm also kinda jazzed about this but I gotta be honest, Louis Lettier doesn't exactly blow my dress up if you know what I'm saying. He's 0 for 1 by my reboot count (only one guy talkin here), and I just fear a KRACKEN SMASH! edition rather than a thoughtful, fleshed out story. There's a lot of mythology going on, I'm just not overconfident he can handle it. I could totally be wrong though. Let's hope I am. And yes, that chick is hot.

i think the origanal IS a classic!!..i think they'll do a good job..the story is very in depth so i hope they keep the story pretty close to the origanal..just tack on better cgi and special effects...don't touch the story please!!

I think so too peterparker420..i just meant that its not widely regarded as a classic. Grif thats THE scene right there! Scared the bejaysus outta me as a kid.

I love all films that use the Ray Harryhausen visual effect, and Clash of the Titans is a firm favourite with Jason and the Argonauts and the Sinbad trilogy also close to my heart.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with this film, and hoping that they don't rely wholly on modern effect techniques.

Let’s hope this appeals to a younger generation and that in years to come it'll be a film worth remembering.

I love this movie. I can't wait to see a remake.

I was talking to my history teacher about that when he showed this during class when we were studying Greek history and their belief system.

AAAAAAA!!! MEDUSA!!!! She has Pace Picante Sauce pouring out of her headless body!!! AAAAA!!!

THIS IS CLASSIC! THE WHOLE MOVIE IS STILL TO THIS DAY: BAD @$$!

I had to share this movie with my kids, and Dude, that part had them running to their rooms and hiding behind the couch, like it did me as a kid! lol

I sincerely hope Hollywood doesn't screw this Remake up! You are all correct! Don't mess with the story!!!

That girl is bangin! and nice work Grif i was showing my lady girl that clip and i was all tense just watching it.Thats what i hope the new movie has is that level of Tension that was gripping when i saw it on the Tely even. I really hope the reamake has that! I dont like just adding a lady for a love interest so i hope that is not the case but i am sure it is, cuz that will bring down the story that i am truly interested in, which is Clash o' the Titans. I do hope there are boobies

Why? Some movies shouldn't be re-done. This is one of them.

Jetsaholic is right. What's the point of remaking this? So we can have fancier special effects? Whoop-de-freaking-doo! Fancier effects do not equal a better movie. Another fun high-school memory set to be ruined. I'm a bit different from most people here- my favorite scene is "Release the Kracken!" I'll say that to this day any time I see an underwater monster or a big underwater cave in a movie or TV show. That thing was just BADASS!

Never really watched the old version except the last half hour or so. But a remake sounds cool. I love ancient Greek mythology so I'd be down for this movie...as long as the guy who made Troy stays away from this film.

i hate this movie specifically for the reason that it rips mythology apart.

your right, it does. But at the time i didnt know mythology from scooby doo so i didnt care about source material. What it did do was spark my interest in mythology, and our new mythology, comicbooks.

Stupid Greek guy looked at her! What an idiot! What did Perseus say? WHAT DID PERSEUS SAY???

I feel that we are going to have a season of films with Greeks between 300, Wonder Woman, and COT coming out. WHen they show themselves successfull, the highly unpredictable studios will deliver upon us an onslaught of Greek films till they come out our collective noses. yippee. All things Greek will have a resurgence. My Big Fat Wedding and Zorba the Greek will play ad nauseum/infititum on network TV.

(sighs)

But dont get me wrong!!! I love this stuff too. But, come on, the studios don't know when to quit, right?

I'm not gonna watch this. I loved the original too much.

They better not mess with Ghostbusters, or I'll go postal on Hollywood.

@betty everyone is supposed be coming back for Ghostbusters so it's not a remake it's the 3rd installment, and Dan Akroyd it think it was is supposed to be helping w/ the writing of the movie, they want to keep it true to the old ones

SpiderBat209 - 3/30/2009, 8:45 PM
A 3rd GHOSTBUSTERS? FINALLY!!!

Now all we need is a 3rd GREMLINS! :)
Phinehas

Betty! Loved the "KHHAAAANNNNN!!!" Pick of Kirk! One of Shatners best performances. I believed him when he did it. He was pissed! "You cling-on bastards, you killed my son!" was ok, but I think he was reaching on that one. The Khan director said he would do several takes of Shatner because that would be how long it took before he ceased over-acting for the camera. Star Trek II was the result. I think Nic Meyer should be considered for WW. IMO.

Osiris, Betty didn't mention whether Ghostbusters was in continuity with the original or not. As cool as the Medusa scene was, I liked the giant scorpions, and I liked Burgess Merideth's performance. He must be Hollyweird's most under-appreciated actor. I don't remember the name of the city, but the one the Kraken destroyed in the beginning should be done with better detail. That would be awesome. They should take another "Krak" at it. LOL

Ok, sorry.
Phinehas
Phinehas - 3/30/2009, 9:20 PM
Ahhhh...Spiderman209, really? Can't we reboot Gremlins? The second one was a little over-the-top with goofiness. Perhaps it could be more dangerous and darker than the original campy ones.

FalconX2 - 3/30/2009, 9:24 PM
Rumor has it, Akroyd has written a script for GB3 and is pushing for CGI rather than live action. Ramis is on board, but I don't know if any companies have picked it up.

Ok there there was an actress who played as Agent Forest on some TV show called "Chuck" tonight before Heroes and she looked like she could rock as the WitchBlade "Sarah P." I am saying i would like someone who is hot and is a little older that could pull a seasoned cop role.
Gleave9
Gleave9 - 3/30/2009, 11:23 PM
Phinehas, it was the city of Argos that was flooded by the kraken and yeah that scene will be great with the latest effects. i showed that scene to a mate of mine who hadn't seen Clash before and he laughed so hard at the now dated effects, good effort tho Harryhausen lol.
SpiderBat209
SpiderBat209 - 3/31/2009, 12:02 AM
@ Phinehas---A reboot isn't a bad idea at all!

Puppets or CGI, though?

Hmmmmm.

I'm totally with you on your love for the original Rorschach01! Your 1st paragraph could have been written by me as this was my introduction to monsters and mythology.

I really hope they make a good movie here, it'll never have the same effect on me as the original but it has potential.
