Comic Review: DC's "UNCHARTED #1"

If you've enjoyed playing 2009's Game of the Year , "Uncharted : Among Thieves" and the first game ,"Drake's Fortune" you'll like this book!

They're both there: Nathan Drake, descendant of the famous explorer Sir Francis Drake and his horny , geriatric buddy Victor 'goddam' Sullivan, in a new adventure orbiting around a lost 'antiquity' from Russia , stolen by Nazi's and then recovered once again only to be lost to time ...but modestly rediscovered in a journal which may lead Drake back into the teeth of danger, fortune, adventure and unexpected familiar faces, in new and unfathomable places!

The story begins with Drake and a previous 'old friend' finding themselves in a predicament right out of the games , procuring artifacts they were hired to obtain by their employer.

I don't want to give too much away but suffice to say, this book plays out EXACTLY as it would in either game. In fact, I found myself immersed in the story-line as if actually 'playing it' ; the comic generates that psychology.

As for the dialogue, it's dead on accurate. Sully says things you'd expect him to, and Drake has his cocky retorts, just as it would be in the games.

Nate is represented well by Joshua Williamson's scripting. He faithfully writes his character as inquisitive, knowledgeable and resourceful as ever.

This comic is remarkably true to the game. It's as if you're 'playing' the game in your mind as you read it...and just want to know what happens next!

If you like the games, or just like a read with adventure, history and intrigue, you'll like this book!

I highly recommend it( ..and 'NO', I'm not on DC's payroll).

Peace.
