Could We See Peter Jackson Try His Hand At The Superhero Genre?

MTV spoke to the "District 9" Producer about possibly directing a super hero movie in the future, and finds out that he's a big Iron Man fan!

"The only superhero project I've ever been involved in was many, many years ago when we wrote a script for 'Concrete' for Dark Horse [Comics]," recalled Jackson. "That never happened, but I thought our script was kind of fun and [it's] still sitting on somebody's shelf."

"No one's ever offered me a comic, and I'm not a natural comic book guy, but I'll tell you what, I will say that in the last couple of years I think my favorite Hollywood movie that's been released in the last couple of years was 'Iron Man,'" said Jackson, noting his unfamiliarity with the Armored Avenger prior to seeing the film.

"I'd never read a single Iron Man comic. I didn't know Iron Man. I didn't know what the law was, but I enjoyed that movie. I thought it was a terrific film," said Jackson, adding, "I can't wait for 'Iron Man 2.'"

Jackson is actually adapting a comic for his next movie! An adaptation of Herge's "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn," graphic novel. But that doesn't exactly count as "Superhero". So what character do you guys think Jackson would do the best job with?

I don't see Jackson working on Iron Man, but he's a great actor and would be good for any other project.

@SkunkApe1: When I interviewed Don Cheadle, he said that the only superhero that he would want to play (besides War Machine and Gautama Siddartha) was Man-Thing!

SkunkApe, I am a Man-Thing fan, and just because it hasn't been done right yet doesn't mean it couldn't be.

I can't believe how badly they trashed the character in Man-Thing movie. It truly was the worst Marvel movie of all time.

I hope that someday in the distant future they try again and do it right

@Rorschach: I love Alan Moore's run on Swamp Thing!!!

Jackson could do any of these: Marvel Zombies, Sandman (DC Vertigo), or Swamp Thing.

I have never seen the Swamp Thing movies! I hear they are good fun but take a massive dump all over the comics. I might check em out sometime. Flash was a good series..haven't seen that since i was a kid, they never re run it.

I would literally be excited to hear that Jackson had been picked to direct a Re-Boot of BATMAN. Just imagine a LOTR style epic for The Dark Knight Himself. He-Man would be sweet too. Anything with Jackson at the helm i am down like James Brown.

@Ror

The original Swamp Thing movies are good fun. Typical B-Movie fare, campy in spots, some action, half way decent acting. It's one of the movies I remember from when I was a kid. But after I read the comics, I realized how big a dump they took on them. But check them out anyways. I think you'll enjoy them for what they are.
