Danny Boyle Has No Interest In Helming A Comic Book Movie; "They’re Not My World At All"

Shame, I'd love to see what Danny Boyle would do with a hero or villain

Boyles a genuis, Chronicle is one of the finest super hero movies ever made without doubt and the final scenes are the closest we're gonna get to a decent Akira adaptation

I dont get why people are always asking Danny Boyle whether he's interested in these types of fim's. Boyle couldn't be more removed from those types of films if he tried. He never shows any interest in the big blockbuster and is only interested in directing the "artsy", slightly bizarre, independent feeling dramas that he's been making for years.

I, personally, would like to see Boyle do something a little bit different from what he has been doing for the past decade or so....but I know it's going to happen. In my opinion, Boyles best film is the only "Hollywood-ised" film he's ever made.....The Beach (I'm sure a lot of people will argue that Trainspotting...but I feel that film is overrated).
In fact, in the documentary Side by Side....Boyle talks about how The Beach was as "Hollywood" as he ever wanted to go and didn't really enjoy the experience of shooting that way. Boyle is one of the only directors who actually likes to veer away from the cinematic feel.....preferring the "found footage" and documentary look over the 35mm cinematic feel. I.E. 127 hours, 28 Days Later.

I dont get why anyone would WANT their films to feel cheap like 28 Days Later did....but, to each his own.

I wouldn't want to see a CBM from this guy anyway. Good director, but not for the genre IMO

That actually sounds pretty good to me. First off, he's simply being honest there, and that surely is fine. Also, there are people like him, Rian Johnson, Duncan Jones, et cetera, whose brilliant works are fairly original to the standard of Hollywood nowadays, and I just want to see them continuing with just that. Not a loss to the CBM department, either, as there are lots of new talents to be dug out there, or that are available and also suitable for the job.

Good. No one has any interest in him directing a comic book movie at all.

Where does he write it off? He says he's not into making adaptions of them. Plain and simple. No where in here does he call them lowly pieces of work or beneath him.

Its like asking someone who doesn't care for history to make a historical film. Just because they don't want to, doesn't mean they don't respect history.
