Yeah, this review is coming in late. Due to my comic book store closing, I had to find another way to get this issue. Well, now I have it. So, does this issue bring a satisfying conclusion to the Spider-Slayer arc? Read on.
Believe it or not, the main story wasn't the one I was dying to read, but it was the back-up story, the "all-new Venom." More on that soon.
The issue was good, but a bit underwhelming. This arc was just lacking the pazazz of the previous one. Aside from the sad ending, this arc has been a fun and happy story. Smythe losing so soon (in one hit) was very anti-climatic.
The art is very good, and the New Avengers were fun to see again in the book.
Now, for the backup story. By now you should all know that I'm a die-hard Venom fan. However, I never liked Flash Thompson. Venom used to be a name that everyone feared, now he's being reduced to a government lackey who takes orders. What is Marvel doing to one of it's scariest villains?
In closing, this issue brings a good conclusion, not great, but well enough to get a four.
I give this issue a 4/5.
